That does make sense, Redstar. However, he doesn't really seem to care about the well-being of the other citizens of Dinohattan outside of Lena and (maybe) his cousins and with them all most likely being of Tyrannosaurus descent, I don't really understand why he would care much about whether or not his world had a vegetation source.

He cares because herbivores eat vegetation. With no vegetation the herbivores die out, leaving the carnivores without a food source.
Why do you think Dinohattan is so chaotic? Food shortages have led to a shift in the "natural order." Carnivores now eat carnivores while herbivores, now starving, have taken to eating each other.

I see your point. I just failed to go that in depth with my pondering on the subject.

Arise, chicken.

I saw something on IMDb that said that not once throughout the course of the entire movie does Mario refer to Daisy by name. I've seen the movie more than everyone here combined three times over and I hadn't ever noticed it before, so I recently sat down and watched the movie (again) and I found that this true. It's kind of odd, don't you think? I wonder if in any of the fabled lifted footage we'll find a scene where Mario does this. If not, I wonder what the reasoning behind such a character trait would be?

I can assure you I've seen the film at least as many times as you and yes--I've noticed this before.
I'm pretty sure Koopa never addresses M/L by name either. It's always "plumbers," "mammals," monkeys," etc.
There are two ways to look at this. Either Mario has nicknames for most people/things (he calls people throughout the movie things like goofball/knucklehead/rufflehead/etc), or he's dishing Koopa's taunts back in a similar fashion.
Although that theory doesn't explain why Mario never calls Daisy out by name. Some of the scenes that were cut (like in the prison) have Mario being REALLY upset and pissed off that Luigi followed Daisy through an interdimensional wormhole and got them into a huge pickle. Maybe not calling her out by name is meant to be the subtlest of insults towards Luigi?
I actually meant to keep this trait in our SMB 2 sequel comic, but a "Daisy" did slip into Chapter 1/Page 12 and 21. Maybe you could assume that with the resolution of the cut subplot we never saw in the first film, Mario warms up to the idea of calling Daisy by her name.

I know that none of the villains ever refer to Mario or Luigi by name, the only 'exception' being one of the "Mikes" at the jail processing center who says "Hey, Mike! Show these Marios around the side!" And then the same actor (who I swear is playing like, eight different versions of the same guy-- a subtle nod to all Koopa Troopers looking the same, maybe?) yells "Mario Brothers!" And then Mario yells "Yeah! You better get us a lawyer or get us out of this chicken coop!" followed by a distant voice yelling "YEAH, ME TOO!" to which this third Mike replies to that voice with a quiet: "You got one..."

I'm pretty sure that's one guy throughout, Simon the Troopa Cop. He's played by that one Canadian actor whose name I can't recall at the moment. I believe Mike is the other cop we see escorting Mario and Luigi through the DeFungus station. The only strange thing is that there's the other guy named Simon too, the Devo Technician.

When he says "Mike! Show these Marios around the side!" the
very next thing we see is the
same cop at the desk showing them around-- unless they cut out something or if Mike and the desk clerk cop are played by the same person (as well as the guy who arrests Lena, later) then either Mike's a very busy guy with multiple personality disorder or I'm totally missing something.

Actually, when Sgt. Simon says "Mike! Show these Marios around the side," another cop does in fact grab M/L and escort them out of frame... and THEN you see Simon take control of M/L in the next shot. Maybe Mike just got busy real fast.
Also, here's a new tidbit thanks to the new Blu-Ray release:
The monitor with the de-evolved brain-scan diagram? During the devo sequence? The patent panel actually reads:
KOOPA STEELCRAFT, INC.
DINO YARK, D.Y.
PATENT NO. 237174127
I found that interesting, since we all know that "Dinohattan" wasn't chosen as the official name of the city until much later in production. It fluctuated from things like "Dino Yark" to "Dino York."

Yeah, they never say "Dinohattan" in the movie, they refer to it as "this place" or "the city" and even "this little Mushroom Kingdom" on certain occasions. There's a guy at the Boom Boom Bar who has a shirt or vest that says "Dino Yawk" with a "W" in the word. The fact that they have a state name for the city implies to me there are other settlements in the alternate universe. They have to be trading supplies with somebody.
