They do mention one thing that I was always bummed about the movie. Luigi not having a mustache, that has to be one the biggest complaints I had about the movie.

Even after, Leguizamo has shown he could have grown one. Perhaps he did and they weren't crazy about the way it looked? I could see him with more of a mustache and goatee, more likely that a younger guy wouldn't have just a mustache lol

I guess I always chalked it up to maybe them using it for exaggerating the difference in the brothers. Mario's older experienced grounded in reality and Luigi's wreckless rush into things young attitude. Ehh granted a huge part of how people perceived the Mario Bros was from the live action bits and 2 guys around the same age with mustaches.

I actually never minded the whole 'Luigi not having a mustache,' issue. In fact, it seems more realistic that he should have a chin-tuft or just sideburns or something. No-one under 35 really says: "Hey, I wanna grow a mustache!"

I'm pretty sure it was all done to differentiate the characters. I mean, when Mario games were first developed, Luigi was basically just the "Player 2." A carbon copy of Mario in a different color. They started giving him different attributes as the game series continued, like making him taller, etc. So it makes perfect sense to me that they would really want to make the characters different in the movie.

You are wrong sir, I grew a mustache a couple years ago, and this year. I think that was my actual quote too when I decided to grow one. hahaha.
Yeah it does make sense for John Leguizamo to not have a mustache, but atleast mnaybe a little scruff on his face or something would have been nice.

somewhere someone said it looks like he's getting a little bit of facial hair toward the end of the movie. I forget if thats true, I seem to remember a hint of a mustache starting...

It would have been good to see in the movie Luigi against the idea of growing one untiln then he realises he is a Mario. It could have happened since there was so much cut, and it was in the movie to book novel.
