This video talks about Nintendo and their situation with Hollywood now, according to the video Hollywood is always knocking on the door wanting to make Mario and Zelda. The video also states that Hollywood wonders how many coins SMB can knock into the box office.

If I keep talking I'll just basicly say what the video says, so have fun watching it and hope that one day Nintendo will give their video games another shot on the big screen (or small even.)

Did that really just say... they're making a movie of... SPACE INVADERS? And they're also making a Pac-Man movie... I'd say making a new Mario movie really doesn't seem that strange at the moment.
LOL, you can tell by the shots they chose of the Mario movie that they were trying to make it look bad. Seeing Toad's head being de-evolved out of context is... a bit off.

To a 5-year-old watching the TV spots, it was pure Nightmare Fuel.

Despite general consensus (or at least a general unwillingness to give a shit) among the industry that video game adaptations suck, they still make them because they know (or assume) that fans of the game will still go to see the movie, if only to see if it sucks just as much as we've come to expect. We need one, just one, brilliant video game adaptation to make this all change... At least until we get all the summer rehashes which suck for entirely different reasons.

Have you seen Prince of Persia yet? That one looks pretty good.
I think what people need to realize is that a successful video-game adaptation has to be, first and foremost, a good movie. Second, and only second, it must be a good adaptation of a video game. While SMB had the right idea, it just got lost somewhere down the line.

Well if they are making a new Pac Man CGI 3D cartoon series, I think anything is possible with the Mario franchise. It just may take a long time for it to happen, but I have faith in it.

From what I've read since its premiere, Prince of Persia hasn't done so well. While it wasn't a flop, it wasn't a massive hit of the Pirates of the Caribbean level. In any case, like The Last Airbender movie, I'm boycotting Prince for the racial discrimination in terms of casting.
Video games are a unique medium in terms of story. Only recently have games begun to carry an actual plot (not just a bare-bones story), which is why now is the prime time for adaptation. Most games prior to 2000 simply weren't suitable for adaptation, though that doesn't stop Hollywood from trying or fans from wanting it.
