The Return of Princess Daisy (wild mass guessing thread)

Postby Prime Evil » Mon Aug 16, 2010 10:17 pm

Just a random speculation thread.

We all know that SMB was intended to be a franchise but this did not happen when the first one tanked. So, with that in mind, what kind of a madhouse do you think Princess Daisy was coming from at the end?

My two cents: In Koopa's absence, Dr. Eggman was finally able to enact his hostile takeover of the Mushroom Kingdom. And how.

Discuss, ladies and germs.

Eggman?

I don't recall where I heard this, whether it was a fanfic or some other source, but I've heard that the second movie would have involved Koopa's "brother" Wart. That idea doesn't sit entirely well with me though it could have worked out. Personally I would have preferred some way to return Koopa or a fight against his protege (Koopalings?).

I also would have liked to see something concerning the vast expanse of wasteland. There has to be something out there.

The earlier drafts expanded a lot more on the concept of the desert--I think they didn't in the finished film because they didn't have the space, time, and money to do stuff out there.

From what I understand, all of the desert scenes were filmed in an unused quarry next to, in, or down the street from the cement factory.

Also, a character named 'Wart' is in one of the earlier drafts--he's the one that gets turned into goo. Although it's worth noting that the 'goo character' was anyone from Simon, Wart, Bloober, or Lemmy.

We might be finding out for sure soon enough.

Well, this thread is just for sheer randomness. The more outlandish, the better.

Alternatively, "The Thing" somehow got into the Mushroom Kingdom and she was trying to Kill It With Fire.

I kinda imagined that Koopa was somehow resurrected from his slime state and evolved back into his human form, but maybe a little more grotesque and reptillian because they could not fully evolve him, and taking over Dinohattan again. Daisy is a part of a resistance group of freedom fighters (kinda like Terminator) and Dinohattan has become a collapsing warzone. I just kinda imagined more action, more fight scenes, more explosions, a few new characters, and a more epic fight between the Mario Bros and Koopa (who regresses to his more savage form like in the original script).

A "Return of Koopa" kind of idea seemed most ideal to me, because it reminded me of Ninja Turtles II where the Shredder came back, seeking revenge on the turtles :D

Or maybe Simon and the Koppa Troopas trying to take over again

I found the reference where Wart is stated to be the villain of the sequel and brother of Koopa: someone added it to the IMDb page as a fact, so now I'm certain in my doubts.

Yeah--IMDb's "facts" are hardly reliable. I highly doubt that "Wart" would have been the villain of SMB 2--and if he was, he wouldn't have been the devo technician with the same name.

Just like with the whole The King/Bowser situation, this is probably another reason why the name Wart isn't mentioned in the film by name, and the devo technician isn't credited with that name in the final film.

Ooh, you could very easily re-integrate the Bowser we all know and love into that situation.

Here's a wild mass guess I had this morning.

"Dinosaur Train" takes place in Dinohattan's past

OK, so...it was better in my head this morning than it'll be right now.

"Dinosaur Train" takes place a long time after the dimensions merged, but a long time before dinosaurs started to take on humanoid forms. The Keepers of the Portal started out as "psychic" dinosaurs who were born closest to the dimensional membrane; they would receive visions of our world. One of the things they saw was the development of the steam train, and, having shared this vision, inadvertently set the dinos on the road to evolution past the ability to speak.

It was a time where everyone was able to "get along," and it was a safe time to raise younglings. But no-one could have dreamed how much trouble that train would cause.

I had to look it up. "Dinosaur Train" is an animated childrens' series. Odd mass guessing.

I did say WILD mass guessing! That right there is pretty wild, don't you think?

Still, though, you have to admit that it does fit in as a kind of "before things went horribly wrong" prequel.
