I forget if this has been posted or not, but in the new edition of Super Mario All-Stars (coming to the US December 12) there is a booklet inside, describing the original SMB games mechanics. They sound really close to the movie.

Mario was originally supposed to kick his enemies, and grab bazooka guns as well to use as his weapons. I'm thinking maybe the movie makers found these original plans somehow through Nintendo, and decided to base it on that. I'm sure I'm wrong since those plans have been hidden for a long time.

But imagine if this was the game we got, would the Mario Bros movie have done better than it did, since there was guns and what not? You all make the call.

Don't you mean my "darker and edgier" thread just before this? There's mention of guns but nothing as specific as bazookas.
