Novelization vs. Movie

I thought I had seen this addressed somewhere around here before, but can't seem to find it now.

I'm interested in picking up a novelization of the movie, and hearing about how extensively the movie was changed between when it was written and when the "idiots" (as Hoskins put it) threw it out, I'm curious how closely the novelization reflects the finished product.

The novelization is a good read. It's similar to the film we got in terms of plot, but it's somewhat expanded and has a darker overall tone. Pretty impressive now that we know how many drafts of the screenplay that there were and how many rewrites took place.

For a start, look at the page on Random Action Hour that discusses the book in detail:

I'm after this book now, is this it? It's by Todd Strasser but a different cover.

Well, that eBay listing is done for. I hope another might come along soon... any idea how common it is to find one? Amazon doesn't seem to have it...

They pop up on eBay every once in a while (Half.com also seems to have them periodically). They're in lots of different formats across the world too--just keep looking and you'll find one eventually.

I would check Amazon, that's where I bought all of my Mario movie books a year or so ago.
