Okay, so I was listening to Alan Silvestri's wonderful score soundtrack to the film, and I started noticing some inconsistencies between some of the tracks and how they're presented in the film.
Now, this happens with a lot of films for a number of reasons. Say, there's a cut that needs to be made that was unexpected. With the video footage also goes whatever score would've been at the start/finish of the scene. Sometimes, pop songs or the like are used instead of the score that may have already been composed for it. For example, there's this great Danny Elfman cue in the 1989 Batman film where the Joker takes off in a helicopter towards Gotham City--but in the finished film, that cue was cut in favor for the intro the Prince song that played in the next scene ("Trust").
So, this will be a thread in which I (or anyone else that wishes to contribute) can present a scene from the film, with an isolated score overlaid, so we can hear the difference. Hopefully some interesting results will come of this.
The "Isolated Score" Thread
Re: The "Isolated Score" Thread
"Farewell" by Alan Silvestri
One of these scenes (as I described in the post above) is at the end of the film in when Mario and Luigi leave Daisy behind in Dinohattan. Since the scene with Lance Henriksen as "The King" was added in late in production as a reshoot, some of the original "Farewell" track was cut off.
Also, some of the best parts of the track are a bit too soft to hear over the actor's voices here. So, here's the complete track, isolated over the clip from the film. Enjoy.

Re: The "Isolated Score" Thread
The complete track really is much better. Sometimes when watching the movie I'll stop to focus in on the soundtrack. It's always so good, oftentimes blending into the action of the movie. The soundtrack and film really complement each other so well. If they were to do a re-release, re-mastering the sound and soundtrack would probably add just as much, if not more, to the experience than doing so to the picture quality.

Sometime ago I had the same idea, it's cool what are you doing
Maybe I would try to do a "isolated score" video

Millions of years of climbing up from the ooze, instantly reversed. Imagine the horror as it all slips away. It's worse than mere death. It's being undone
