Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
In response to Serum, while the Gremlins aren't incredibly scary especially to an adult mind, I was just showing Redstar that even 4-foot enemies can be scary as well.

Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
Ok here are my questions.
1. Why was it so much more practical for Koopa to be a human then a dragon?
2. Why was the mushroom kingdom a city and not a castle? When I hear the word kingdom I think of castles.
3. Why Daisy and not Peach?
4. Were those boots a reference to any Mario game?

Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
1. Money, dear boy.
2. Well one, it's not called the Mushroom Kingdom. It's called Dinohatten technically, two didn't you already ask this question?
3. How old are you, or are you a hardcore Mario fan? Because any hardcore Mario fan worth his spit would know that Peach was introduced in 1996, the year SM64 came out.
4. Yes. Apparently the boots were to explain why the bgros jumped so high.
5. These are not analytical questions, these are basic fanboy questions when someone is trying to make the film look bad. Are you hiding something or are these the questions you're friend is asking?

It's far easier and less expensive to have a human actor portray a character then to put him in a full-body suit or utilize CG that, at the time, simply did not exist. You also have to consider that actors are hired for their performance and persona; they do not wish to be covered.
IbanezJFS wrote:2. Why was the mushroom kingdom a city and not a castle? When I hear the word kingdom I think of castles.
Have you played any of the games? The royal castle has always been surrounded by a city/town.
IbanezJFS wrote:3. Why Daisy and not Peach?
Because, at the time, the two characters were essentially the same.

Seriously, read our interviews. The boots are a direct reference to every game in that Mario/Luigi can jump extreme heights in all of them.
Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
1. Ok I can understand that.
2. I did ask that question but I don't recall getting an answer.
3. I'm 27. So I was born in 1985. And when I first started playing video games. I didn't notice much of a story. In my naive mind there wasn't one. It was just get to the goal. And I was more of a Sonic The Hedgehog fan
. As far as Daisy goes....Oh yeah that's right.
4. Oh ok, when I first played Mario even for the NES. I never questioned how high he could jump. I just accepted it.
5. Someone suggest that I post these kind of questions here and, NONE of these have to do with my friend. I actually never saw the movie until a few months ago. So for 26 years I never saw it. All I knew was it's a bad movie. Then 1 day I saw the whole thing was on youtube and decided to give it a shot. And I actually liked it. At first I didn't see how it was connected to the game and just figured it was Mario reference movie. Then I found this site and joined the forums. And people are telling me it IS a live action Mario movie and I didn't quite see it yet.
That's why I had these questions. I only have a small basic Mario Knowledge and needed help filling in the blanks. As for the interviews. I find it more fun asking people. Because it can start up a conversation and can lead to good online friends. So None of this was to bash the film. I love it and would like to know more about it. Hell I hope I can win a prize from this contest the webmaster is running.

Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
Oh...well sorry for being harsh then. It's just that I'm getting slowly irritated at people who ask this kinds of questions when common sense would easily answer them in a heartbeat! That and the fact that so many "fans" actually just bash how the movie's not like the games without actually giving actual criticisms as to why they don't like the film. They just assume that if they bitch about how Luigi doesn't have a stache and other useless fodder than that qualifies as a review, slash valid arguement!
Again, sorry to be harsh, it's just I was getting slightly suspicious there.

Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
No worries. When it comes to this movie I know when people criticize this movie a vast majority of the time. They are just nit picking and I hate that. The 1 thing that pisses me off is that Mario was played by a British Man.....Ok but he DID NOT use a British accent in the film. In fact it sounds like a typical New Yorker accent.
As for Luigie, John embodies him PERFECTLY! So he's a latino. It's not like hes brown like George Lopez. He could pass off being white. As for the mustache...I'm assuming he just wouldn't look right. Maybe work on that accent a little. As for bad acting. You watch The Toxic Avenger and then tell me whats bad acting. And I already figured out why the goobas were so big and looked the way they did. My friend says i'm making excuses. I say he doesn't want to look into it and see that maybe he is wrong. Hell if I can there is no reason why he can't.

Re: The S.M.B.A. Thread
I'd like to take a crack at the stompers/work boots continuity issue. Maybe it is implied that stompers are fitted over normal shoes. I went through and watched all the close-up scenes and it looks to me as though this could be the case. Perhaps they're only one or two uses per cartridge, and then the Marios simply abandon them.
As for the king being evo'd back to his regular self... Perhaps the Goombas were marching through the city, shooting the fungus, and reversing the process.

I'm just here for the gasoline.

There need to be more Super Mario Bros. Movie analysts. As for their old clothes, they probably just replaced them with the new suits and put them in the locker where they founds the new suits.
