The Official XFL (Xtreme Football League) Thread!

Does anyone else remember the XFL? It stood for "Xtreme Football League," they were founded by Vince McMahon, the CEO of the WWF (now the WWE) and it put a new, refreshing twist on American-rules football. For instance, every player had a microphone in their helmet and we could hear what they had to say if they gained a point or someone else gained a point. The opening toin-coss was replaced by a violent scramble for the ball and best of all the teams were named after cool things, like "Demons" and "Hitmen" and "Outlaws." The players could have whatever they want on their jerseys instead of their names and one of the players for the Las Vegas Outlaws had the enigmatic words "HE HATE ME" stitched on his jersey-- to this day no one truly knows what it means!

It began and ended in 2001-- a banner year that was supposed to be something wonderful (flying to the moon and Jupiter in awesome spaceships) and ended up being something horrible (planes crashing into the world's largest buildings, collapsing them). But for a few glorious months, football was worth watching! I used to watch it with my father and we'd always cheer on the New York/New Jersey Hitmen-- I just bought a jersey for that team-- it's in great condition considering that it's been in a warehouse in storage for ten years. I think that we should dedicate our spare time to writing letters to WWE and telling them how much we appreciated the XFL and how much it would mean to us to get it back-- the world needs a violent, extreme sport now more than ever! The world needs the XFL!
