A place for those who "Trust the Fungus"

Has anyone seen the Mega Man fan film by Eddie Lebron? I thought it was pretty decent for an Indy Film and a Solid Videogame adaptation. It's not the greatest but I wanted to know what your thoughts are on it.

When I first saw it, I thought it was amazing, however after numerous viewings it got a bit stale. I never really got all the damn cussing in the film and some of the dialog sucked a bit. It was also surprisingly long, especially for a fan film.

I only felt the need to watch it once, I think with the cussing they were trying to be "realistic" in a way. and I agree it was way too long and boring at some bits.

I wrote a screenplay once for a Mega Man movie, based on the "Mega Man Legends" series canon. It's on a disk somewhere, if I can find it, I'll upload it for everyone to read. But my adaptation (much like my fan-screenplay for "Super Mario Bros.") got extremely existential and philosophical, so much to the point that I think the reader/viewer would say: "Dude, chill out. It's Mega Man, for God's sake."

Yeah, I wrote the first draft before 9/11, and the first scene was the hovership (I forget what it's called in the "Legends" series, but they live in it and it flies over the oceans and lands on islands on the mostly flooded planet.) hovering over the sea, and Mega Man jumps out onto the top of a building poking its head out of the water, and when the camera pans out it's the tip top of the World Trade Center's twin towers, up to their 100th floors in water, the antenna had a tattered American flag wavering in the wind and it was sort of a comment on global warming-- back when I still believed in global warming.

Then after 9/11 I rewrote it so that the tower in question was the Empire State Building, and that the insides of these buildings were waterproof and he had to go down into the bases and collect gems and parts and fight ancient security drones that are malfunctioning after centuries of neglect.

I even went so far as changing the "Mega Man Juno" character from the end of the first game to being the one who made Trigger (Mega Man's real name in the "Legends" series.) into Mega Man. It got really deep, I think it was about 300 pages, which is a tad long for a video-game to movie screenplay adaptation.

That's awesome. I think it was called the Hovership but there is another ship I'm thinking of called the Sulfur Bottom.

Yeah, I think that was the name of their ship. Or it was named after Doctor Barrel or whoever that old guy that Rock and Roll hung out with was.

I forget, I haven't played the Legend's games in ages.

Actually, the Sulphur Bottom was a massive airship owned by a wealthy guy in the second "Legends" game. The name of Rock and Roll's airship was the "Flutter."

Okay, I remember now,
