In case you don't know, Doug Walker is the Nostalgia Critic, he remembers it so you don't have too. Now a lot of people on this site hate NC because of his SMB Review. The thing is however, that's the only reason. It's kind of sad because NC is a very funny critic despite being a foulmouth. Yes, he's reviewd cartoons I liked and in those reviews he's bashed them but most of the time his arguments are pretty fair despite a couple goofs. But then again, these goofs are usually in his older videos.
The thing is I like NC but do you?

I've said this before, but the reason I dislike the so-called "Nostalgia Critic" is not because of his review for Super Mario Bros. but because of the way he blatantly stretches the truth and outright lies for the sake of a joke. I have no problem with "vitriolic critics," but when you have to fabricate flaws rather than focus on legitimate issues than you're not a very good comic.
Much of his videos are composed of lame skits and overacted hatred. I just don't find him fun or funny.

Yeah, it's kind of like how I know somebody who always says, there's two types of comedians:
The kind that say funny
things. And the kind that say things
funny. Think about that for a little while. Let it sink in.

I like the NC but some point in 2010 he started getting stale, repetitive and honestly annoying. I think his collab with AVGN was awesome. but after that he hasn't been that good. Nostalgia Chick is still pretty good though.

I RESENT the Nostalgia Critic!
His vile 'review' of Street Fighter was in fact a core ingredient in a very nasty hate campaign against me (long story...), so rest assured I certainly made my feelings known. Thankfully the hate campaign was won and the me-loving majority of people
begged for my return (though I only post in a tightly restricted section, since some folks still hate me) after *gasp* we unearthed a
traitor among us - but I can only hope the Critic doesn't make any nasty jokes about Dennis Hopper's death, i.e. considering Dennis died on a day when Street Fighter aired...
What's worse is... I now have one hell of a
vendetta against the first of the two people responsible for the Critic's vile 'review' of Street Fighter being part of the hate campaign against me. Why so? He dared to insult me
on Christmas Day (so yes I thus call the guy a 'scrooge')! Yes we are dealing with the problem and my friends are rallying to my defense, but sometimes I just can't stop crying
PS the hate campaign was actually one of the points taken into consideration when I first came here; i.e. obviously at the time I needed a new online 'sanctuary'. All together now: "Awwww!"

At least he said Raul Julia kicked ass!

Anyway there are ony 3 reviews I don't agree with. One was of course the Mario movie because he was just inaccurate but the other two were just a conflict of opinions. Those are the Mortal Kombat Review and the Super Mario Brothers Super Show Review. He didn't like Mortal Kombat because to him it was just a stupid action movie with not nearly enough gore like in the games. However I like it just for that reason. He hates the SMBSS because to him it was lazy, had dumb satire, unfunny jokes and the fact that it was never the same scenerio.
I however liked the show because it was never the same scenerio, that's was made it interesting. See what I did there Star Ma'm? I just stated my opinion in an honest and sincere manner. Which I highly suggest you do if you want people to listen to your opinion. If you post it as you did however people will think you're just a fanboy of that film and was mad because Doug attacked your favorite film. Besides if you want to see why people love him so much. Check out the Star Wars Christmas Special, that's one of his better reviews.

My resentment is not simply because he attacked my favourite film - it's because two heartless men, one of whom has recently earned being dubbed a 'scrooge' for insulting me
on Christmas Day, posted his attack of my favourite film all as part of an extremely vicious hate campaign against myself. All together now: "Take these two heartless men to the Devo Chamber!" (LOL I couldn't resist

)
And it's fan
girl, not 'boy'. Why else would I have chosen 'Star
Ma'am' as my handle, my good fellow?

Well fanboy is the typical term. Also, it sounded like you hated NC for just one review out of more than a hundred. That's a pretty sad excuse for your hate. Also, was Doug Walker one of the men who attacked you? If not then I don't think that's right. To resent the NC for something he never did is pretty childish.

Sorry, I didn't think you meant a general term - I thought perhaps you didn't know I'm a girl? Also, my main reason for being a little jumpy about that was... simply put, do NOT get me started on how the aforementioned scrooge made very cruel, very false accusations about my gender...
And about your question of Doug (I still commonly refer to him as the Nostalgia Critic because I initially thought that alone is his stage name LOL) being one of the men who attacked me, I'd say yes and no. The first man (the scrooge) posted the Critic's 'review' of Street Fighter during the early days of the hate campaign against me, obviously it was out of spite toward myself because he told me to 'stfu' (in other words, not to say anything). He obviously implied not to flame him on the board - ahhhh but he didn't say I couldn't flame him
elsewhere, so I did
The incident with the second man is where the 'yes and no' answer comes in. The second man actually posted the 'review' right in-between when the 'Van Damme suffers a heart attack' rumour was spread and the 16th anniversary of Raul Julia's death - oh boy I did NOT keep quiet about THAT, I mean ANYONE would agree posting the video at any old time would be one thing but it's very cruel to post it at such an upsetting time as so (or even any good occasions, such as if Street Fighter were soon to be aired)! I flamed the second man well hard for this one - no I didn't spew any colourful language or anything, but I like to think of my style of 'flaming' as an art form of sorts (and let's face it, my mom DID often say she wanted me to take an interest in art LOL). 0:-)
However, the second man alerted my other attackers - including the scrooge, who then proceeded to say he would, again obviously out of spite to myself, contact the Critic and request he 'review' my favourite cartoon Bucky O'Hare. So you never know... the Critic may very well have an attack on me up his sleeve...

Number one, fanboys always react neagtively to people who badmouth they're idol. Just like you, the scrooge guy hated that you criticized Doug. Second, guys like these will say ANYTHING to make you feel scared and powerless. Either that, or they just tell you things like that to piss you off. Third, there is a good chance Doug may like Bucky O Hare and therefore will make a good review, as he's done positive reviews before like Gargoyles or Hook. Fourth, just because someone posted a video that Doug did on a day that was offensive to you, doesn't make him a dick. It's makes the person who posted it at that time a dick if it was done on purpose.
Fifth, Doug isn't the Nostalgia Critic anymore. What I mean is, the Nostalgia Critic used to be Doug Walker voicing his opinion but in the later years, Doug has been more kinder and always allows anyone to praise or bash his reviews as long as they have an actual opinion that makes sense. Sixth and finally, Doug does not hate you for hating his review, he's not planning anything up his sleeve to make you mad. Doug is an entertainer, and he's a critic, his job is to criticize and be entertaining. Therefore, his opinion may not be like yours.
I'm sorry if I'm getting you worked up over this but I just don't see why you hate him so much besides bashing one of your favorite movies!

Anybody know if the misunderstanding about Mario being Luigi's father started with the Critic, or if it goes back farther than him? If it did start with him he's got a lot to answer for. Even a casual viewer should be able to tell that Mario just raised Luigi like a parent. Yet I've had to straighten a couple people out on this point, and on each occasion it came back to the N.C.'s review.

I've talked to people that have claimed they've never watched Walker's video on the film, yet still believed that Mario is Luigi's father. I can't imagine too many people would come to that conclusion on their own, so for the most part it has to have been at least through pop culture osmosis.
