Ok, you know how SMB is often considered too dark for a Nintendo game? Well, uh, no, no it's not. How do I know? Well, because There Will Be Brawl is a dark adaption of a Nintendo game called Super Smash Bros Brawl. In fact, it's actually for lack of a better word screwed up to the maximum power. It's about a dystopian mushroom kingdom that holds 4 dons, the Pocket Monster (Mewto), the Penguin (DeeDeeDee), the Turtle (Bowser), and the Shadow Don (Gannondorf). While Princess Peach still rules over the Kingdom, there's pratically nothing to own, it's a shithole. All of you favorite characters are there, well sort of.

You have Mario, who's basically a pale shadow of his own shadow who often gets very angry and hates it when people call him a plumber. You have Luigi who is the main character, as a depressed man who lost Daisy to a cannibal. You have Wario as a greedy thug that's basically the traditional asshole who has the dirt on people. There's Samus, who's a hooker with a heart of gold. There's Captain Falcon as a gay guy who also has Pit who is also gay. Olimar is there as well, but he's a nut case called the end of days because he predicts you guessed it, the end of the world!

So by now, if you haven't guessed it, this is actually a dramatic parody of the traditional gritty reboot and while there are serious moments, it's actually delightfully rediculous at moments.

Here is the website that lists all 10 episodes. http://therewillbebrawl.com/episodes.php

Warning thoguh, this is incredibly dark and is intended for those over 17! I'm 14 but then again, I have a stronger gut than others.

I personally liked it, though I feel it's a bit unbalanced between "Silly" and "Serious". I mean you have various characters getting murdered but then there's a scene where we see pokemon plushies fighitng each other and sometimes you can see the strings!

I watched through almost the entire series and felt it was pretty good. I didn't enjoy that practically every iconic female Nintendo character became either a stripper/prostitute/junky girlfriend, but other than that the concept held well and it was all shot together professionally.

While I agree that it's a little bothering to see all of the women being strippers/whores/unfaithful girlfriends etc, you have to admit that the sheer amount of references to all the games is pretty impressive. Most of them even count as a sort of fridge brilliance.

For example at the start of the series three characters are killed off very early on, Pichu, Roy, and Mewto. This doesn't sound really important until you realize that those three characters never made it into Brawl.

The series is filled to the brim with references and meta jokes like that. An even more clever meta reference centers around Luigi's dark and troubled past. You see, he wasn't able to save Daisy from being killed by Kirby (long story), which is also pretty basic stuff until you realize that in Super Mario Land (to date the only game where Daisy needed saving) the one character that couldn't save her was Luigi.

I just love little touches like that.
