Does anybody like He-Man?

People say He-man has so many gay jokes inside of the show, this may be true but this show may be one of the best cartoon to represent the 80's. Pirnce Adam protector of Castle Grayskull holds up his sword, yelling" I have the power!", loses 90% of his clothes, has a really dark tan, and his hair turns macaroni and cheese colored, and he becomes He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

He-Man has all the action and a valuable lesson at the end of the show. In the summer when my girlfriend and I didn't have cable I saw 20 episodes for 5 bucks at Toys R Us, we bought it, and that probably got us through so many days without cable. I later had to get vol. 2, and the Christmas special for christmas. The action figures are even awesome, even though we only have just one, and he's missing his foot without accessories.

I might have watched He-Man when I was little but I can't even remember, I just remember the live action movie, which is basicly the same thing to happen to MoTU happened with the SMB movie. But maybe a bit less painful.

If nobodies seen HMMoTU, I suggest checking it out.

That is true, but there's a lot in He-man for some reason. It's obvious he's all for Teela.

I have absolutely zero familiarity with He-Man and am not even sure if I watched the cartoon show. We did, however, have a fair amount of He-Man toys, which would always do battle with the Ninja Turtles.

You should watch it sometime from what I read its on RetroTVs the NightOwl, and at ToysRus for 5 bucks, which is a very good deal for 20 episodes.

New documentary for a possible 25th anniversary Masters of the Universe 87 Movie DVD

Over the last couple months Gary Goddard -- the director of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: THE MOTION PICTURE, and Roger Lay Jr -- the director of the upcoming documentary feature film TOY MASTERS had been working on producing an all new documentary which focuses on the difficulties faced by cast and crew during the making of MOTU: THE MOTION PICTURE. The live action film was produced in 1986-1987 during the later days of the toy line when sales had begun to decline drastically and to make matters worse the film was being produced by Cannon Films - a studio that was on it's way to going out of business. Goddard had to face these and other major challenges on a daily basis to complete the film. This new documentary would've revealed those details through a series of all new interviews with the film's key creative personnel and cast members.

Last year Lay and Goddard began discussions to develop and produce a new version of Goddard's cult classic science fiction series CAPTAIN POWER AND THE SOLDIERS OF THE FUTURE. The first step to reintroduce the franchise was to release the classic episodes on DVD so Lay set out to produce a 25th anniversary DVD set of the complete series with over 6 hours of all new special features including the feature length documentary OUT OF THE ASHES: THE MAKING OF CAPTAIN POWER AND THE SOLDIERS OF THE FUTURE. The 25th anniversary DVD went on to receive an overwhelmingly positive series of reviews and quickly sold out at the distributor level. The set has now gone into a second printing. Inspired by the success of the CAPTAIN POWER DVD set Goddard approached Warner Home Video about re-releasing the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE film on DVD for it's 25th anniversary including all the new special features he and Lay had begun working on. Even Bryan Singer (Director, X-MEN, USUAL SUSPECTS) agreed to come onboard to moderate an all new commentary track with Goddard and Frank Langella (Skeletor).After months of communication and positive response from the studio, Goddard was told that they would not move forward with their plan to re-issue the film at the moment.

Both Lay and Goddard were immensely disappointed since they had begun compiling and creating a plethora of all new content which would have made this reissue a very special DVD for fans of the film and the Masters franchise.

Here's a short sample of the new documentary that was meant to be the centerpiece of the new DVD reissue of the film. If the new anniversay DVD won't be released, Lay still plans on including this material in the special features of his upcoming TOY MASTERS film when it is released on DVD / BLU-RAY.

I actually saw this at he-man.org, I tried looking for the thread to post in here but I couldn't find it anywhere even searching for it. That's a really good documentary, it's a shame WB turned down a special DVD release, but atleast the doc will make a bonus feature on another DVD. The movie is really well done being the budget they had for it, it's a shame the sequel was turned into Cyborg.

Also there's a new 6 issue mini series coming out for the 30th anniversary of the MOTU franchise.

I wish they'd make something like this for the Mario movie, but like MOTU, Disney(not WB) will think about it then deny it, even though its a popular movie. I'm not sure if the SMB movie is more popular than the He-man movie, but its such a good way to make it live action. (Minus Kringer and Orko of course, due to budget reasons).

Speculation on the He-Man forums is that Warner Bros. is planning to hold off on a Masters of the Universe re-release (and, by extension, this documentary) in the hopes that it would make more money if released coinciding with a He-Man reboot. That does seem like a likely scenario.

I have mentioned Cyborg on the forum before when director Pyun was discussing the possibility of releasing an extended version of the film on Blu-Ray. Wouldn't it be cool if they could do the same for Masters of the Universe? Though, it does seem like very little was left on the cutting room floor.

Super Mario Bros. really would merit an exceptional documentary, though I agree that Disney wouldn't take the initiative to make or fund one. That's why we're going to make one ourselves.

Yeah I would like to see some deleted footage, but I really don't think its anything worth seeing like the deleted scenes from SMB would be. The story flowed well, and tight schedualing and timing I don't see how they'd have any deleted scenes.

I want Sony to remake the movie, they are the ones who have the rights right now, but they need to do a very good job. I read the first remake script and it was lowzy. I had to quit reading I got so bored with it. I'm just so glad Michael Bay didn't call producer on it, since he loves gobbling up franchises from the 80's and ruining them,(yet people complain about them, and still see the movie after complaining, they make money and that makes them think, Bay is good let him make more...people are ignorant sometimes) anything he touches is seriously just shit.

Its also a shame there was supposed to be a game made by THQ but earlier of the year or end of last, they announced they're just gonna stick to violent adult games, meaning bye bye He-Man project. Unless they made ir bloody but I doubt it.

I couldn't believe myself for not bringing the MOTU movie with me when I moved and had to order a copy on amazon recently. It's really cheap on there from sellers 3 or 4 dollars, unless you wanna get it on VHS I think there's one for 40 some cents.

The live action movie was terrible. Dolph didnt even say the famous like correctly.

I think they did a good job for the budget they had. Dolph is a good He-Man IMO, I really can't picture anyone else playing the role. I hoope he makes an appearance in the reboot, maybe as the king.

I found out today that MOTU the movie is coming out on Bluray, I think with an October release. 25th anniversary of the movie, and its the 30th anniversary of MOTU toyline. Mills Creek Ent. Is also releasing an ultimate boxset of the entire series, from what I've seen it looks like they're going to have all 3 series in this set.

They need to cram in Princess of Power, Secret of the Sword movie, and the Christmas Special in there as well. A contest is also being held which I'm working on a video for it, which I will include the main intro that I traced over in flash for a HD experience. (The intro was uploaded but is banned already so when I make the video it might be able to be seen)

that ones funny by but someone made a video of heman and im sexy and i know it. its way better.

i got around to ordering a classics he-man figure from hte motuc line. its very awesome and nicely detailed, and just got skeletor vs lex luthar yesterday. these figures are really nice and detailed. the scults are truly amazing.

also the new mini comic series running now, i downloaded from dc the first issue and it is truly awesome. i havent read a comic in a long time and this was hte first one i did read, and i love it. skeletor clears everyones minds, and adam is a wandering woodsman seaking to know his true self. he has dreams of being he-man, he stabs beast man, and at the end skeletor wants vengence. it's a nice new take on the series, since its a darker tone, and even the figures have darker bios on the back of the cards. i realy suggest chcking out the new comic series.
