Yes, this is true. For its 50th Anniversary, Topps Trading Cards and IDW comics have decided to relaunch the ultimate cult classic of pop culture to a new audience. Needless to say...it couldn't have come at a better time. The cards in question are reprints of the originals, which is what you would expect, but there are some new additions. Included with each pack is a "Deleted Scene" which is a sketch that never got made in the original printing and a new card from the new universe what I beleive is closer to the comics. If you have the chance, its worth getting for that die hard nostalgia collector of 60s sci fi and material along the lines of Tales from the Crypt.
As for the comics, well, two issues in and it shows promise. While the Maritians are the central figure, they do focus on the human characters as well. I must say, its an interesting relauch as everytime I keep going to Newberry Comics, they get sold out in two days flat. I'm dead serious. So that goes to show there is an audience for it and boy, is it growing fast.

I enjoyed the Burton film. It's a delightful companion to Roland Emmerich's Independence Day.

IMO, it's a better companion to Dr. Strangelove. Which is to say, it's a hoot. I was fortunate enough last year to go to a toy-show where a friend had a booth, and at another booth there was a box of DVDs at 2 for $5. It was one of them; the other one was Baron Munchausen.
