Has anyone ever watched Spaceballs? If you haven't you're totally missing out! While it may not be Mel Brooks best comedy, Spaceballs still delivers strong with good performances, good characters albiet stereotypical ones, and of course lots and lots of gags!
Like: 1-2-3-4-5?! That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard of! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage! (later) That's amazing! I have the same combination on my luggage!
Or how bout:
That's what we need! A druish princess! Funny I didn't know she was druish.
And let's not forget:
Who here is an asshole? (everyone but Dark Helmet and Sandurz raises their hand) I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!
And there's plenty more, like the merchandising gag, or the famous paradox movie scene where Dark Helmet watches the actual movie to find out where Lonestar is!
All in all, Spaceballs is a very funny comedy that's worth a look!

Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

I don't even like the Star Wars original, so I detest Spaceballs all the more.

Spaceballs: The Reply! (well it was bound to happen sooner or later)
LOL Yes I have seen Spaceballs once or twice, it's absolutely hilarious! 'Pizza the Hutt' and the enemy capturing the heroes' stunt doubles - classic!
But being the style-conscientous thing I am, yes I didn't think much of Princess Vespa's wedding dress (not least because it was a forced marriage). I preferred Maid Marian's wedding dress in Robin Hood: Men In Tights

Re: Spaceballs: The Thread!
Spaceballs isn't actually all that funny, IMO. As a Mel Brooks comedy, it's fairly scattershot and something of a mess. Unfortunately, I've only seen that and Young Frankenstein, so it's a bit hard to judge the humor of all of his films.
All I can say is, YF is by far the funnier because even without the jokes it's punchy and coherent. Spaceballs is just "joke...joke...joke..." and it's hard to find laughs the second or third time around.

I don't care for the cast or character/costume design. Something about it just makes me feel disgusted. Also, the fact that they combined Han Solo and Luke into one character screams of blasphemy to me, even as a non-fan.

Re: Spaceballs: The Thread!
Well that's a little understandable but the way I see it, I think they dropped Luke altogether and just parodied Han Solo. I mean yeah he does do many things that Luke did but it's still the huff and gruff Han Solo parody.
