"They Changed it, now it sucks"

Borrowing from redstart a bit here, this thread is made for you to just let out your rage. What do you mean? Well, as we all know when adapting anything to any screen or when a series goes on for a long time there are going to be changes, from minor to major. Have you always hated this one change they made to a movie/game/etc adaption that based on your favorite whatever? Well, now you can let it all out.

Just post all the changes to any adaption of book/TV show/etc that just irk you. I'll post mine first:

1. In the remake of the Producers, the role of Hitler is changed from a beatnik actor named L.S.D to the overly gay director, Roger Debris. The reason they did was because they thought L.S.D was too outdated though it was more likely because they thought an overly gay director was more funnier. WHICH IS NOT TRUE!!! While Roger Debris in the remake could be a little funny, L.S.D at Hitler was HILARIOUS! I thought the beatnik Hitler version was much funnier than the Gay Hitler. And what really irks me was that they changed the setting of the Producers from 1968 to 1958, where the beatnik culture was alive and well, so L.S.D still could have worked!

2. In the Percy Jackson, Hades is obviously more of a bad guy, thus making the movie an example of Everybody Hates Hades, however in the book, Hades had nothing to do with problem in the first place. Ok the problem is that Zeus' thunderbolt is stolen and he accuses Posiedon of forcing his son Percy Jackson to steal it. However, Percy Jackson and his friends assume Hades stole it when like I said in the book it turns out he had nothing to do with the problem, he may have been a jerk and captured Percy's mom so he could trade the master bolt with Percy's mom, but he was not the big bad.

However in the movie, yeah he's the big bad. He may not have stolen the bolt directly (as in he didn't order anyone to steal it) but he still wants war and all that bull crap, even though in the book, he stated that the underworld was already too full and that the last thing he needed was a war.

3. The Wizard of Oz movie has Glinda, who, in the book was too characters. Do I have even HAVE to say why she irks me? Ok, in the book Dorthy is told by the Witch of the North that the slippers she has on can take her home, however she herself doesn't know how to make it work but Glinda the witch of the south does. Now like I said in the movie there was only Glinda who also filled in the role of the Witch of North, which begs the question that if she knew how to make the slippers work why did she have Dorthy go through all that trouble to go to the Emerald City instead of just tell her out flat?

You could say that maybe Dorthy needed to learn a lesson but what lesson? She was already smart (from what I remember), she loved her family and her dog, maybe to find out that she needed courage but you could make the argument that she already learned that in the sepia colored Kansas.

4. The show Spongebob Squarepants has a pretty infamous change. After the movie was released, the later season which started with 4 were...bad. How so? Well for starters, while SBSQ was never shy around gross humor it wasn't the main source. The main humor was stuff like "A note! (Turns the piece of paper around to show an actual musical note) Turn it around there's also a letter (Turns it around to show the letter b) You're right!"

Now however, the main humor is just gross out humor and quite frankly...it's freaking gross. That and the characters are completely flanderized.

So those are my personal irks of the trope they changed it now it sucks. what are yours?

Yeah yeah sure but what specific change irked you and if it was the entire changes why did it irk you? You have to explain yourself otherwise your opinion won't matter to anyone.

I'm not even a fan of TMNT but i hear of all the changes being mad thanks to bay and it sounds awful. They are not aliens. it's like if in the toxie remake they make him a scientist caught in a radioactive exlosion and he becomes toxic avenger. it's not worth it. oh and the new robocop costume looks like dark knight batman.

I'm not even a fan of TMNT but i hear of all the changes being mad thanks to bay and it sounds awful. They are not aliens. it's like if in the toxie remake they make him a scientist caught in a radioactive exlosion and he becomes toxic avenger. it's not worth it. oh and the new robocop costume looks like dark knight batman.

Luckily all those changes are meaningless as the project was canceled once the script was leaked to the general public. It was so severely trashed that the studio had (rightly so) second thoughts. Whether the reboot goes forward or not, with Bay or another director, remains to be seen.

When I read the first few reports, I got the vibe that he was talking about the mutagen, not the turtles. Wasn't the stuff a product of the Utroms in the comics?

As for the Robocop costume, it looks like the remake is going to reflect changes in technology. Also, I do believe the black suit is only one of many...must check the reports to find out.

Two words: Inspector Gadget.
The list of evil changes is nearly endless, but here's a few.
1) Gadget's coat and hat are now tan, not grey. Seems minor, and if it was the only change I'd forgive it, but come on people! You couldn't find a grey trenchcoat?! First sign that noone cared about the original.
2) No Gadget voice? Gadget's personality was almost defined by Don Adams vocals. Could Matthew Broderick not do an impression? THEN WHY HIRE HIM?
3) The Gadgetmobile. Oh, how I loath the Gadgetmobile. Why Gadget's car had to be turned into a more annoying version of Donkey from Shrek is beyond me.
4) Claw. Where to begin? Let's see.. 4a) Shouldn't see his face. 4b) doesn't have a robotic pincher claw. 4c) is named Dr. Claw, not "Claw. One word. Like Madonna." 4d) Should have Madcat with him at ALL TIMES.
5) Gadget's gadgets. Gadget toothpaste gun? Gadget Pez-dispenser? When the heck would these come in handy?
6) Penny. Not blond, no computer book, little character. 6b) Brain. Ordinary dog. Does nothing.
7) Chief Quimby. In the cartoon, he likes Gadget, except when Gadget bombs him with an exploding paper. In the movie, he hates Gadget, even though there are no exploding notes.
I'm sure there's more, but now I feel like hitting something so I'll stop.
