Happy Thanksgiving!

Postby Serum » Thu Nov 22, 2012 9:31 am

Today marks the 149th official Thanksgiving, and the 391st Thanksgiving in total. To me, this is just the day before Black Friday when they play a cool parade on TV, but it means something different to everybody. (This applies to the United States' American Thanksgiving, America not available in some areas.)
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

Happy Thanksgiving! This is actually my second favorite holiday (following Halloween) because I just love the fall atmosphere of family, food and fun. This year I'm making the stuffing myself rather than us just buying it from a box. I'm really proud!

I myself treat thanksgiving like any other holiday, I don't want to show favoritism now do I? :P
Isn't this a little feminine?

Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.

But you wear this stuff?!

Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

I actually have a profound contempt for this holiday. Not because of the bloodstained history or anything, but because every year it's the same. Only now, I'm alone-- and what can I say? Misery loves company.

Yeah, the company of internet friends is great between the ages of 13 and 20, but by the time you get to be my age you tend to start loathing the internet-- not the people on it, mind you, but the fact that it's all ambiguous and evil.

I wouldn't say ALL of the internet is evil, heck the majority of it is just filled with immaturity that's all. Either way, there IS quite a bit of good on the internet you just have to look for it.

Eh, you were born in an era of widespread Internet, so it's different for you. I can remember a time when the Internet wasn't publicly available and people had to think for themselves-- that's the evil I'm talking about. The stripping of individuality and the disassociation of millions.

I used to not care for thanksgiving, to me it was just a pre christmas, cause everyone got together before it. But now being 3000 miles away from famliy, I realise how much I truly miss them and my home state. Life is misserable here, and Im going to be putting an end to that mysery hopefully next yest year when we can take a bus back to Ohio. This and Christmas will just remind me of how much I do miss my home.

But to cheer myself up, Grum starring in the Thanksgiving movie, The Pill-Grum.

Yes sir! I love Thanksgiving. Best things to have on this holiday for me are: turkey (dark meat), cranberry sauce, stuffing, and turnips and carrots (heavenly). Also, I like to enjoy eggnog on this holiday as well as Christmas.

Redstar, how did your homemade stuffing turn out?

Not as well as I had hoped, although I was the only one disappointed. The stuffing just didn't 'cake' together as I had hoped while the vegetables were a little firmer than they should have been. I should have sweated them a little longer.

I did, however, take the whole thing home, re-moisten it and add butter (which I hadn't before) throughout the mixture, broiling it until it was fluffier and cakier. That really made a difference. Next time I'll add butter the first time around.
