Update: I decided to make this thread about GhostBusters Fan Films in general not just Return of the GhostBusters.

Return Of The GhostBusters: This is a good film. I like the fact that at least ONE of these busters are releated to the original. :D Its nice. And very funny. Theres so many funny jokes in it. My two favourite were the Bat man and Robin jokes. And.... Your NOT going to believe but Believe it or not when you see the many viewers watching the news. The AVGN is one of those people!!! Not kidding! The Angry Video Game Nerd makes an appereance.

OkI wrote this about a year and a half ago and back then I wasn't as serious. I still think this is a very good film but not for those reasons above.

My review from an older perspective is this: Return of the Ghostbusters is average if compared to the big hollywood block busters. But if it was compared as an independant fan film, this movie deserves an award for best special effects, and (debatebly) for best script. To me, the filmmakers really tried to make this film a good flick. And it felt like a Ghostbusters movie to me as well. You got Neil Anderson who greatly fills the Peter Venkman role and you of course have Ed Spengler who fills Egon's role. I mean come on, Ed's even related to Egon.

The villian was also great he was just a typical world domination villain, just like the other villains in the Ghostbuster movies. Yes, the story is nothing spectacular but when I'm watching something like GhostBusters, I really don't expect it to and I don't really want it to either. I just want a nice story that'll keep me entertained.

And of course the special effects need to be acknowledged, for a fan film, they are amazing. and they defenetly out match other Ghostbusters fan films by a long shot. My verdict:

9/10.

The effects are top-notch, but the writing is one of the aspects I'm not too fussed about. Too many jokes give it too big of a smirk...I could have very easily done without the "Batman and Robin" and "Chuck-E-Cheese's" jokes.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. But it was still a pretty good film.

UPDATE! Check the first post.

Knoxville Ghostbusters: The Series: Pilot episode.

This is another good fan film that's a pilot for an unfortunetly would be series. I say this because, Knoxville GhostBusters has the potential of actually being a good TV Series. Its only 13 minutes long but that doesn't really matter. It'll still keep you entertained and make you want for more.

It also has all the standard requirements for ghosbusters:

1. A Ghost causes trouble? Check.
2. One person in peril? Check.
3. Ghosbusters busting ghosts? Check.
4. Clff hanger ending with a mystic bad guy? Check.

It's all there. And hopefully in the future we'll see more Knoxville GhostBusters episodes.

8/10.

I love Ghostbusters! It's surprising, but I actually saw Ghostbusters II first and wouldn't see the original until years later. Most people don't seem to like the sequel ("more of the same") but I think it had a lot of interesting concepts. The humor was definitely still there.

In a lot of ways, Ghostbusters is also similar to Super Mario Bros. "Super Mario Bros.," as originally written by Parker Bennett and Terry Runté, took a lot of inspiration from the "Ghostbusters" sensibility and the stylings of Bill Murray. It's also really cool that both have hero jumpsuits of some fashion. I think both films have concepts and visuals that really support fan films. :P

I love Ghostbusters as well. And I really don't get why people rag on GBII. I liked it. In fact, I say "IT'S A RIVER OF SLIME" whenever possible. And I'm not even joking.

GhostBusters: Hellbent.

Summary: This one is more rare in terms of popularity and reception but none the less its a good film. Though I wouldn't advise easily offended christains to watch this. Mostly cuz its about the newly formed Virginia GhostBusters fighting the devil. Now while that concept to the general audience is frigging epic, others tend to skip it and to be honest I myself being a christain was cautious to see it but I was really surprised.

The modified No-Ghost Logo was pretty...unique but I wouldn't go as far as to like it, but then again thats just me. The effects and camera-work are very low compared to Return Of The GhostBusters and it never helps to know that HB was released 2 years after ROTGB, but then again I really can't blame them for that, this is obviously because of a lower budget but the passion to making this movie is still there.

The music is good, the shoddy camera work...actually works for this movie, the VGB's themselves are fun to watch, and the effects while not as top notch are still good, and the red color lighting at the climax is awesome.

But the concept of them fighting the devil is just too dark and getting into the biblical area a bit for a GhostBusters film, even if its fan work. It also might put off fans of GhostBusters who are athiests or who are anti christains. They didnt come to see a biblical film, they came to see GhostBusters.

I didn't talk about the plot but then again there's nothing to talk about that's not been said already. Its just a new GhostBusters team getting formed and fighting off the devil.

My rating: 7/10.

Also just saying this is mostly about the GhostBusters FAN Films. Its stupid I know but most of these fan films desrves to be mentioned and if I scatter them around the place it wouldn''t make sense and will clog up the general forum.

Ghostbusters was a great film! Though I have not watched the film as a whole since I was 8, sadly..I just never have the time :( I never saw Ghostbusters 2..except for the last 5 minutes of it..so I can't really judge it. A fan film I think would be VERY hard to pull off, at least with special effects :o Though it can be enjoyable as long as they get the characters right! :D

I don't much care for Return's script, and I'll have to see the other fanfilm on this page.

The main problem with Hank Braxtan's films is that they're too pop-culture-y, and there are a few lines in Return that he could easily have done without (the Batman and Robin and Chuck E. Cheese's jokes spring to mind).

The fan-production I like best is Ghostbustin' 911, if only because it's a refreshingly original concept: Instead of having a big feature-film, it's a parody of Ghost Hunters and other "reality" shows.
