Merry Christmas everybody - and a happy early birthday to me (December 27 is my birthday so yes I'll be out celebrating then, too)!

Despite not being religious, my family is very traditional - and so even though we don't go to Church (be it a Midnight Mass or a daytime service), mainly because mum would be too tired to do anything else when we get back to her place (where we gather to celebrate), we still make our efforts to keep Christ in CHRISTmas. If I stay up late enough I might even catch a Midnight Mass on TV. And yes we open presents on Christmas Day morning, too - I don't think Santa visits on Christmas Eve Eve! LOL

The only family members we have over for Christmas dinner (and of course exchanging more gifts!) are my paternal grandparents. They attend a Church service in their village before coming over here some time in the early afternoon.

We also very often have a party on Boxing Day, so yes we'll have one this year too. This is a good opportunity for people to exchange more Christmas presents - and, of course, to drop off any birthday presents for me

And yes I play -maybe even complete, if I'm lucky- the odd game or two on Christmas Day, for example last year the honour went to Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves for the NES. Think of completing a game on Christmas Day as a Christmas present to oneself (oh yes, can you believe I even completed one game on my 23rd birthday?)

Well for christmas to believe it or not with my suprise I got the Mario Wii edition. This thing is a beauty, I'd sell my other Wii but unfortunetly Id lose probably 2000 dollars after all the games I bought on it. So now I'm stuck with two Wii's. I also got another copy of Mario All Stars which I will not open, the new edition of the SMB movie, two Mario shirts, and these plastic balls that have Mario Kart figures in them. I wasn't expecting all this Mario swag but it was a very Mario Christmas.

I had a "Mario Christmas" as well, though I've come to expect it. I've always been a big fan of the franchise, so my mother always tries to get me something related to Mario every Christmas and birthday. This year I got a shirt featuring Mario, Luigi, Toad, Bowser, and a bunch of iconic enemies... Plus Wario... For some reason. Which is fine, I guess, but I have to wonder why they decided to feature Wario rather than the Princess.

Also got some little reusable Mario stickers.

That's cool I think I got that same shirt, or something similar like it. I haven't really looked at it. I just liked my new blue one that has racoon mario hitting a question block.

I'm still very dissapointed in Nintendo and their terrible online experience, and this crap that I can't transfer any of Virtual Console games to my new Wii. When will they become smart and make their online experience like Xbox? It'd be nice if I knew the right people who could get my system and replace my old software into my new Wii.

Another thing, Japan got so lucky to have the 25th Anniversary edition of SMB where the ? blocks are replaced with 25, and whatever else changes they have. I would really like to have that game. Hopefully VC will release it.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve I spent with the family, just having dinner with them. Afterwords I went to a friend's house where me and a few friends exchanged gifts. One friend wasn't there as he wasn't feeling good so we still have to trade gifts with each other. My friends got me The Zombie Survival Guide, The Boondocks Season 1 and The Family Guy Trilogy (Blue Harvest/Something Something Dark Side/It's A Trap).

Christmas Day was pretty much the same. Ate over the family's house, went over a friends house later that night. Got a lot of cash from the family so I'm sure I'll be on a spending spree this week.

I had a pretty good Christmas. In terms of Mario stuff, I got some Mario/Yoshi sleep pants, haha!

Got the Batman Returns Expanded Archival Collection soundtrack--good stuff. Also got a new bulb for my LCOS HDTV and now it looks better than ever!

Good thing too, since I'm basically snowed in at the moment. Got a lot of games to catch up on!

I also meant to mention this--every year we have a "universal gift" game where we buy a $25 gift and draw numbers and exchange gifts. This year, the gift I gave were DVDs of Inception...and Super Mario Bros.

Had an uneventful Thanksgiving, but I helped out quite a bit this year by doing a quick run to Ultra Foods for two cans of broth and some Diet Pepsi (needed some or I was about to go spare).

Let's see...what else? Oh yes--I watched the whole McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade from 8 to 11 on TV, and followed that up with Bozo, Gar, and Ray, the WGN/Chicago Broadcasting Museum-produced TV special. (The title refers to Bozo the Clown, "Garfield Goose and Friends," and "The Ray Rayner Show.")

On Saturday after, I went to ChicagoTARDIS 2011. I'll post pics of that later.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas eve and Christmas day! My mother made a wonderful Christmas dinner yesterday despite continual problems with money. It was a great time despite that, just being with family and telling old stories.

Today I visited my girlfriend's family while we later went to my aunt's for a second dinner of the day. I tried green bean casserole for the first time (despite vowing just a week ago that I never would) and didn't find it that unpleasant!

The four I got were:

Terror of the Autons (Third Doctor/Jo Grant)

The Five Doctors 25th Anniversary (self-explanatory)

AND...

THE MOVIE! The movie that aired in 1996 and started me off on this 15-year-long adventure.

Nice list of gifts! I'm really surprised you didn't already have Super Mario World, but Doom 64 is a great title to add to your collection. It's one of the few Doom ports that really stands on its own, due in large part because of the updated graphics, original maps and redesigned enemies. It's an entirely new experience! It certainly doesn't compare to the original, but it's a classic in its own right.

My girlfriend bought me Tucker & Dale vs. Evil a comedy-horror film parodying the black & white morality of slasher films, while my aunt provided a box of Ferrero Rocher, one of the few chocolates I'll eat. My mother is supposed to buy the materials to retrofit a dresser into a larger rat cage, but I probably won't see that at least until my birthday.

I had it many years ago, but it was lost in a flood. I've since moved to the highest point of elevation from the river possible in my area. As far as "Doom 64," it's the real "Doom III."

It's that time of year again! What is everyone doing for Christmas Eve and the day of? I'm at my girlfriend's house, where I was given my Eve present: Men in Black 3 on DVD!

We'll be driving a couple hours to her nana's house for the night, then tomorrow we're having dinner at my place.

I was raised catholic, I've celebrated Christmas for decades, but recently I found out that I'm Jewish by descent on my mother's side. My great-grandmother was a Kabbalistic Jew in Hungary. Her daughter and my mother and therefor me, are all Jewish according to the Torah.

So, happy Chanukah?
