Hi everyone! I'm new here but not to the movie It's one of my all time favourites, saw it at the cinema on release, had all the toys and merchandise (even the devo chamber!) Now I'm an artist over a decade on and producing art inspired by the movie I loved as a kid. I'll keep this thread updated as often as possible with new artwork. I hope you like my first piece; Toad and Daisy. It's a direct study from a publicity photo but I'll get more adventurous with the next piece.

Great artwork. I always love seeing moments like this from the film done in such a stylized manner. You really have a great use of color that brings a mood to the characters, as well. I'm sure your upcoming pieces will be just as awesome.
Would you mind telling us how you found our site?

Hi guys thanks for the kind comments!
I found this site after a googling session while watching the movie a couple of weeks ago, been lurking for a while and finally joined.
I've always been a massive Dennis Hopper fan and I think Koopa is his best role (not his best acted role, but best characterisation) and Bob Hoskins as Mario was a perfect choice.
TRIVIA: Bob played a repairman in the same vein as Mario in the movie 'Brazil' many years before:
Many people say Bob was not a comedy actor, actually he STARTED OFF doing comedy. There was another slapstick style film way befor Brazil, but I cant for the life of me remember what it was called :S

That's a very nice painting you've done there, but poor Daisy looks like she's half-zonked out on cold medicine! I'd buy a print, but...I'm kinda poor.

Well, we hadn't asked, but it would certainly be a privilege to showcase the piece and any future ones on our site under the Fan Art page.

New piece, King Koopa portrait I hope you guys like,it's also available as a print:
Very nice! There's just something about the lines, scars and contours in Hopper's face that really makes him such a solid and alien character. He's absolutely perfect for the version of Koopa that they wanted to do.

Wow, those drawings of daisy and Toad are breathtakingly gorgeous.
I'd love to see what you could do with the poster art, cause I would kill to get that on a T-shirt, and wear it proudly, keep it up, it's amazing work!

I agree. His skin wrinkles up so much when he frowns and talks, he almost looks reptillian.

Thank you so much! (and everyone else who has commented) This gives me the drive to continue doing more SMBM art.

The artwork is amazing! Also, I see that someone finally noticed that "Mario" is the second plumber Bob Hoskins has played in his career, the first was "Spoor" from "Brazil."
