Animated "Prison Exchange" Scene
I just finihed storyboarding a new deleted scene from the movie. I was really moved by those drawings I have been working on to do this. The storyboard is done, next is the animatic, and then animation and voice acting. I may be looking for new voice actors who can do those voices well, since I never have any private time to record anything anymore.
So if anyone has any idea who can pull these voices off or want to try out let me know. I am looking for Mario, Luigi, and Toad. The scene will be the argument between the brothers when they are in jail, before they see Koopa.
Here is the storyboard to this:

Re: Animated "Prison Exchange" Scene
I thin I can do a good Toad if that's ok.
Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

You can submit, here is the scrit taken from the website. Just PM when you record and 'll give you my e-mail address to send it to. This goes for anyone else.
Lemmy nods again. But even Luigi finds that one a little hard to believe.
Mario looks at Luigi
MARIO
Satisfied?"
LUIGI
Okay, fine. Just mellow out.
MARIO
Mellow out...? (to DEMON in next cell) He wants me to mellow out. Okay, fine. I'm mellow.
(then, grabbing Luigi)WE'RE IN HERE cause YOU wanted to SAVE a girl you don't hardly KNOW."
LUIGI
You said I should go after her--
MARIO
I was talking about on a date, not into ANOTHER WORLD!
LUIGI
Then you DO think we're in another world!
MARIO
NO! I DON'T THINK WE'RE IN ANOTHER WORLD! I WAS USING IT AS PART OF AN ARGUMENT--
LUIGI
IF DANIELLA WERE HERE YOU'D WANNA FIND HER."
MARIO
(now he's pissed) Daniella wouldn't be so stupid as to let herself get brought here.
LUIGI
What's your problem?
MARIO
You. My whole life I been takin care of you--
LUIGI
What, taking care, I never asked--
The OVERLAPPING argument is turned toward Lemmy...
MARIO
(with Luigi overlapping) I promised Pop I would. Take care of him, take care of the business. WELL I'M FAILING AT BOTH and I'm sick of it."
Beat. Both guys look to Lemmy. Who can't think of anything to say. Finally he just sings:
LEMMY
SITTIN' IN A CAGE WITH TWO BROTHERS. LISTENIN' TO THEM SHARE WITH ONE ANOTHER...
(off M&L's look) ...never mind.
BELOW, ON A METAL WALKWAY. TROOPA SIMON shouts up at them.
SGT/ SIMON
Mario Brothers?
UP ABOVE, Mario scrambles to his feet and look down.

This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but why don't you try contacting Mojo Nixon and asking him to do Toad's lines?

I was thinking about it, it would be really fun to do that, cause I bet he could even do his hermonica bits which I picture in my head. I asked this guy FilmmakerJ who is really awesome at doing VO, the guy has major talent. He did some voices for my Goku VS He-Man video, I could of swore I was hearing the real Man at Arms when he voiced him.
PM with contact info for Mojo Nixon and I will indeed ask him.

It shouldn't be that hard to get ahold of him... I mean, he scores Troma movies, now.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

Really cool idea. I think it's going to play out really well. I love the fact that you kept the animations movie-like.

I didn't know he does the music scores for Troma movies, I thought he just starred in Buttcrack(which is like, one of the best, Non-Lloyd Kaufman Troma movie ever)

No, I'm pretty sure he (albeit uncredited) did at least two others. I think the one was that raccoon movie.

Thank you.
I got a reply from one of the voice actors, I dunno if he will do it or not. But I am working on clean up animation on Mario frames, then Luigi, last Toad. I would say maybe a week or two it should be done. I am just dred doing the backgrounds.

Re: Animated "Prison Exchange" Scene
I think you should focus on making the art very consistent and the animation very smooth, outsourcing the coloring and possibly backgrounds to someone else. You have a strong ability with the those first two components, so making them your first priority would alleviate a lot of hard work and stress.

Re: Animated "Prison Exchange" Scene
Finished Mario today, going into Luigi. I'm saving close up shots of Mario and the scene where he talks to what the script says a "demon" in the next cel over. Luigi is hard to draw without his baseball hat, but I want to keep this close to the movie as possible. It's hard to draw his hair. I realize now I have taken this into sort of the style of the Clerks cartoon. I want to just draw Randal and Luigize him.

Exciting! I have to be honest, I'm most looking forward to seeing the Demon and Toad. It's good to see secondary characters!

I don't even know how I am going to draw the "demon" in the storyboard I just made half dinosaur human hybrid. Sorry if I edit posts on accident, I see the same button for edit and my mind thinks that it is quote.

For those that don't know, this is the 'Demon' as he was designed for the deleted scene:

See what you can do, record a line for each character, and message me, I will see. I may just wind up voice Mario and Luigi after all.
But here is a still image of work in progress Mario talking to the "Demon"

I just wanted to let everyone to know animation is done, but the backgrounds and foregrounds are still not. I will be moving back to Ohio a few weeks because Washington just isn't working out with us. When I am settled back in, I will do my best to try to get this 100% done. I am sorry for the delay.

Terrible news regarding this project. My laptop is screwed up. I can now only run it in safe mode with network and that is like running windows 95. When i return to Ohio though i will back everything up on my desktop though. So this willnot be done for a long time. I am very sorry.

Don't be sorry dude, that's a real shitty thing that computers do.
When you get back I'll try my hand at Mario. A brit actor doing a Brooklyn accent is exactly what you had in the original movie, I reckon that gives me an advantage at getting the voice right lol

Re: Animated "Prison Exchange" Scene
This is pretty neat. I do animation the old way. Do have any special process or program?
Here is what mine looks like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqccV3MyHlo
I draw up each image on the tracing paper, scan it, and then I put it together with an old windows movie maker program. I think you probably have a program that is more advanced.

If you're still looking for voices, you might try grabbing someone like my pal Marco Buono over here on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/BuonoMarco . He's a spectacular fine actor and he has time for little collaborations every now and then, send him a pm and ask if he'd be interested. He's a fun guy! My favorite youtube performer. We're both struggling to get into entertainment. Other than him... I like to try acting myself. I'm not perfect or very consistent, but I do many voices and my regular speaking one is a bit scary if you have any villain characters. Here's me talking around to myself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_cR8gGdwpE you can get some ideas of my range. Hope that helps!

Very good animation very fluent. For some I used tracing paper, scan, then trace in flash. But since I dont have those things here I just used Flash which I found a lot easier but nothing beats drawings on paper. It's easier that way. I really like your animation maybe we cam collaborate on something sometime.

I am very sorry everybody for the long hiatus, I just got my netbook going again which means I can animate and record. I just recorded the dialogue for this animated scene and it needs colored and backgrounds and it will be online. I'm not giving a date or anything, but it may take time. Big things are ahead.

What a really long wait, but guys just to let you know, this should be done today if I can find a harmonica sound. I have spoken to soon everyone, I am having an error with Mario's mouth and I have to work tonight so it may take a little time. But I would like to give an update that it is done.
Re: Animated "Prison Exchange" Scene
Awesome! I can't wait to see this. I love seeing these things fleshed out in creative ways.
