The (Hopefully) Definitive Custom Thwomp Stomper Thread

The Bros. have them. Everyone here wants them. And yet, I don't think anyone has quite perfected the art of creating a custom pair of Thwomp Stompers.

I know I want a pair to really complete my cosplay for next year; I seem to recall someone telling me they knew someone who could make a pair, but that has since fallen through (mainly as I can't remember who provided me with that quote in the first place, nor find where it was said among my e-mails and messages). I also could have sworn someone here did a nifty job making their own as well, but I can't find that offhand, either.

But I think as a community, if we gather everything we have and know about these things, together we can figure out some sort of guide to making a pair of these boots that anyone can use and enjoy.

If you know something, like say the model of ski boot that was used to make them? Post it here! Share links, from this board and elsewhere, though if you can post the most pertinent parts here (particularly if something is spread across the duration of another thread), so much the better!

And if we can pull this off, maybe we can clean it up and even post it on the site. =)
