Possible fan fiction Mario-less remake?

So everyone remembers the epic SMB Fan Script that Serum made, it's practically a must read. However, for a while Serum had also said that he planned on making another (more lose) remake, this time with the Mario elements completely removed. Serum had since said that he's given up on it
(or bizarro fiction, I don't remember).

However I have become fascinated with this idea as of late, so much so that I've even written some concepts. Will it be a screenplay I'm making or even a full length story? Probably not immediately, if graduation taught me anything I have to take my time with projects.

And if serum still plans on doing his hard sic-fi Mario-Less remake then I'm not going to steal the thunder. So yeah, would anyone be interested in this?

I never gave up on it, it just got pushed back by other projects I had on my plate. If I were to continue it, though, to answer your question: "Would it be a story or a screenplay?" I'd have to say it'd probably be a story as a universe as vast as the one described in both the screenplays for the movie and the movie itself through artistic implications needs a proper prose before it can be unleashed.

Actually the whole would this be a story or a screenplay is a dig on the fact that I tend to be overconfident when writing my stuff that I end up not finishing them.

I am glad that you're still attached to this idea. Might I ask how much progress you've gotten on it or is it still just a few concepts and a rough outline?
