Okay, here's my rough outline of the script!
----
"Super Mario Bros."
At the beginning of time, the universe split into two seperate realities from a second, 'Smaller Big Bang.' Both universes are strikingly similar, the same planets and stars in the same places. However, in one universe, on planet Earth, humanity evolved from mammals and simians. In the other universe, humanity evolved from reptiles and fungus. The two realities are seperate, yet joined by a unique force known as the 'Power Stars.' There are seven of them, three in the mammal's reality, three in the reptilian reality and one in an interdimensional gateway located between realities. King Koopa, the vicious ruler of a once peaceful city known as the 'Mushroom Kingdom,' a mirror of our own Manhattan, wants to collect the seven Power Stars to unite the two realities into one, as his reality is riddled with pollution and is slowly becoming uninhabitable. However, the only way for him to do this, is to find the heir to the former ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom's throne, a young woman known as Princess Daisy. Princess Daisy comes from a bloodline of people who didn't evolve either from mammals or fungus or reptiles-- her whole family comes from a mysterious race of overlords who once lived inside the stars themselves. Koopa, being human, cannot join the two realities, only someone of the bloodline can do that. Koopa would have used the King, had he not made him his first victim of a horrifying new technology known as 'de-evolution.' Unfortunately for Koopa, the Princess does not live on the same plain as he does, she is located somewhere on the mammals' side. However, also unfortunately for Koopa, the entrance the other side was sealed many years ago by some sort of explosion, one of which the events surrounding remain unknown even to Koopa at this time. But one day, the seal is broken by another explosion, upon finding this out, King Koopa orders his team of seven specially trained ops to the other side to find the Princess. The Kooplings, as they are known, consist of: Ludwig-Von, Roy, Iggy, Spike, Wendy-O, Morton, and Larry. Together they sweep the city, looking for girls who might be of the bloodline. After nine failures, they find her, working on an archeology dig as a college student. Before this, however, Daisy's boyfriend, Luigi Mario, a young apprentice plumber and his brother, Mario Mario are working on fixing the basement plumbing of a huge apartment complex building in their hometown of Brooklyn. On the night that Daisy is kidnapped by the Kooplings, before the fact occurs, Mario, Luigi, Mario's girlfriend Pauline and Daisy herself go out to eat at a small Italian restaurant. After the dinner is over, Daisy invites Luigi to the archeological dig to see the dinosaur bones they've found. When they get there the site is being flooded by the Marios' rivals, the Scapelli Corporation-- a mob-based utility service. Luigi and Daisy rush back to Mario, who is on his way back from Pauline's house after dropping her off at home. They find him, quickly change into their plumbing overalls and gear and then rush back to the now, half-flooded dig. But when they get there, Scapelli and his men are waiting for the Brothers, with loaded guns, ready to kill. The Kooplings, on their way back from Pauline's, see Daisy, find her as a direct match with a small 'scouter' like device and quickly take care of Scapelli and his men in a big fight where the Marios fight with the Kooplings to take out the Scapelli Corp. When the fight is over, the Kooplings kidnap Daisy and the Marios follow them down a long tunnel-like pipe, which apparently leads to a dead end of a wall of stone. Luigi touches it, it has the consistency of still water. Daisy reaches out of it, her necklace dangling, on the end is a small pendant, the final Power Star! He tries to pull Daisy back, but can only grab her necklace and it gets yanked from her neck as she is sucked in. He is holding the final Power Start now, then he walks through, Mario follows, reluctantly, where he finds himself in the "Star Chamber," where five of the seven Power Stars circle the big Star-- they're beautiful orbs of light, he steps through another gate and it leads out into another pipe tunnel, nearly identical to the other one, only riddled in graffiti and lit with caged floodlights. Luigi is chasing the Kooplings, Mario quickly catches up and follows. They then find themselves in a cyberpunk vision of Manhattan-- the Mushroom Kingdom. Upon the Kooplings arrival at Koopa's Castle, a surreal and darkened version of the former World Trade Center, they present Koopa with the confirmed Princess, who has just gone through testing to see if she is of the bloodline-- it is confirmed, one hundred percent. Koopa is pleased, then he asks for the final Power Star. They all begin blathering, when they realize that Luigi has it. Koopa puts out an alert, with a fifty-thousand 'blue coin' reward for the Plumbers and the star. Meanwhile, Mario and Luigi are exploring this nightmarish Manhattan, when a street samurai robs them of their money, which he finds to be foreign, as well as the Power Star, which he doesn't know what it is...that's when a woman, Birdo, beats the holy hell out of the street samurai and takes the Power Star... soon after that they meet up with Toad, a friendly punk who used to be a servant of the King. He explains to the brothers the situation, soon afterwhich they are arrested by a nearby cop who notices Mario and Luigi's toolbelts, Toad is arrested for treason and they are shipped to the local county jail, where Koopa interviews the two, pretending to be a lawyer, calling himself "Jack Thompson, Attourney at Law." However, it is quickly revealed to them who "Jack Thompson" really is. He's King Koopa, and he sees that the Star is not on the Brothers, so, convinced he knows they know where it is, he shows them the horrors of a technique he invented called 'de-evolution.' He demonstrates this on a prisoner named "Wart," who is Koopa's own brother, but was arrested after going on a killing spree and charged with conspiracy and treason. Wart is strapped into the machine, which sends him flying back into a chamber, turning him into a Goomba-- an eight foot creature of enormous strength, but with limited intelligence and low speeed, Koopa gives 'Wart' an order to kill Simon, the operator of the machine, Wart does so, by picking Simon up by the arm and tossing him into a vat of slime. The Marios', now faced only by Koopa, who, foolishly has forgotten to arm himself, push him into the chair, lock him in, and set the machine for 'Jurassic' settings. Luigi turns the knob up all the way to '10,000' terawats and runs. They escape the room, Koopa comes out unharmed, but mutated slightly, his skin now scaly and his hair has fallen off. Gaurds rush in the room to help him, he orders them after the brothers. Mario and Luigi are now in the garage of the Police Station, where they carjack a cruiser and drive out into the city, followed by Koopa's monster-truck limosuine and four more cruisers. They have a big chase-scene, which leads out into the Koopahari Desert, a wasteland surrounding the Mushroom Kingdom for untold miles. Koopa stops the chase at this, and orders the Hammer Bros to go out and find the Mario Bros. By morning, Mario and Luigi are drifting through the desert outside the city, when they come across a camp of friendly Toadstoolians. The leader, Bloke, asks the Marios what's going on, they explain the whole thing with the Power Stars and the Princess and Bloke begins to speak of the prophecy. Mario thinks it's bullshit, but Luigi listens. Mario wanders back into town on his own after a fight with Luigi, where he finds Birdo, he chases her in an attempt to get the Star back, but finds himself in a chamber called "Ghost House," where strange holograms, called "Boos," attack him when he's not looking. He figures out that if you're looking at them, they can't hurt you, but if you turn away from their sight, they'll attack. He makes his way through the Ghost House and then hits a switch that over-rides something in the building's walls, exploding the roof, letting sunshine in, killing the holograms. Meanwhile, Luigi is making his way back into the city with Bloke and the other three Toadstoolians, by now, Birdo has gotten away and there is a city-wide search and destroy mission for the person who holds the final Star. Luigi meets up with Mario who is fighting off a street gang called the "Troopas." When they meet up, a much more powerful enemy kills the last of the Troopas and then set their sights on the Marios. The Hammer Bros attack by throwing a seemingly endless supply of shrapnel at the Marios, but just the Marios are cornered by the Hammer Bros, the one Hammer Brother is pulled away by something slimy, the other Brother swings around to see what it is: It's Toad! And the slimy thing is the tongue of a big creature he's riding, called "Yoshi." Yoshi devours the Hammer Brother, then sets his eyes on the other brother. The remaining Hammer Brother runs off like a little girl. Mario, Luigi, Toad and the Toadstoolians make their way through the city, all the way to Koopa's tower-- but Koopa is watching them on his telescreens, he sees them coming. Everything is going according to plan. As they come to loading bay at the base of the Koopa Trade Center, King Koopa himself walks out of a garage bay door and greets the small army. He then uses a device that morphs him into a horrific, dinosaur like creature. He stands up, literally breathing fire and attacking the brothers. Mario sees spikes lining the perimiter of the place, lined on the fences. He runs around Koopa, grabs him by his tail, and swings him around, then tosses him into a spiked ball in the corner of the fence! Koopa yelps in pain as the spiked ball explodes when he hits it, then roars, takes a huge breath and exhales fire, setting the garage bay on fire! He runs off into the city. The small army storms the castle, where they make their way to the observatory, where they find the missing Brooklyn Girls and the Princess. Now, they're all happy, reunited and Daisy explains the whole thing. But Koopa, still in dinosaur form, is climbing the tower, he comes to the top, breathing fire, setting the guardrails on fire. Then he runs for Mario, but Luigi pushes Mario out of harms way and then throws his hand out, palm-open, revealing a small, Mushroom-Shaped device that spits fire straight into King Koopa's face! Bowser recedes in agony, Luigi gives the signal to Mario, the Toadstoolians take aim with their Devo-Guns and flame-throwers, de-evolving Koopa into slime, then setting the slime on fire, it explodes in a fiery ball of light, then falls to the ground like a gentle rain. The Marios and Daisy go home after Daisy appoints Toad as the Prime Minister of the Mushroom Kingdom so he can look after it when she's not there. The Marios, Daisy and Pauline go home. Three weeks later, they're having dinner in the same diner they had dinner in at the beginning, where Daisy is explaining all the things she learned about the two realities, she explains that for every person in this world, there exists a person in the other reality, only a mirror image of the person, morphed by their surroundings. The last thing we see is the puddle of goo where Koopa's charred and icky remains are on the ground. But suddenly, a pair of legs walk on screen, they're dressed in purple-coveralls, the camera pans up to reveal a very obese, but muscular man, who looks a lot like Mario, only dressed in gold and purple. He kneels down, touches the slime with his finger, stands up, tastes the slime and looks around him. This is Wario. He smiles evilly...the screen goes black...roll end credits.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.
