Yeah, so I was referred here by a friend of Phlibbit's. I just want to get to the point; I've had this idea for a game based on the SMB movie for a while, maybe it could aid you guys into fleshing this out.
I originally intended this game concept for the DS, but it's better off as a web game since it's based on a licensed property, I believe this idea could transition well into web form.

I don't intend for the game to look like this, this is just to give you a basic idea of how I envision it, which is why I skimped out on many details, especially a background. The player is controlling Mario in this concept drawing.
Here's some game info that I wrote several months ago; how I envision the gameplay and such.
Super Mario Bros. movie video gameControls:Left = Walk left
Right = Walk right
Down = Duck (while walking = Dactyl)
Up = Go through doors/climb
A = Jump (holding down A = hovering [while wearing fueled thwomp stompers])
B = Punch/utilize carried item
Y = Throw away carried item/put away carried tool
Hold X+Left = Carry/put away item #1
X = Carry/put away item #2
Hold X+Right = Carry/put away item #3
Start = Pause game/access options
Select = Put away item/tool.
L = Separate Brothers
R = Switch playable brother
Collectibles:Thwomp Stompers = When attained, thwomp stompers are automatically worn. Thwomp stompers allow you to jump higher than usual. Holding A while falling down makes you hover and allows you to stay in the air longer. Two bullet bill cartridges are needed in order to use these boots, and when you do, the cartridges are considered carried items, so you can't take out another item while actively using the stomper. Once your cartridges run out of energy, your boots will be rendered powerless as before until you get two more cartridges. Getting hit by an enemy can make you lose your stompers.
Lizards-On-Buns: These are commonly sold by food vendors. Collect them to raise your health by a fraction.
Snakes-On-A-Stick: Harder to find than Lizards-On-Buns. These restore your health back to maximum capacity.
Koopa Coins: The currency of Dinohattan. Collect koopa coins to buy goodies at shops and vendors.
Items (you can carry up to three items in your tool belt and carry one in your hand):Stun Stick = Damage and stun enemies that are close and right in front of you. When it runs out of fuel, you can hit people with it.
Toaster = Shoot fireballs that'll go long distances. When it runs out of fuel, you can hit people with it.
Mushroom = Mushrooms can protect you from devo guns, but not much else.
Prehistoric Mushroom = Can protect against anything until it wears out, also a good object for throwing.
Plunger = Can be used to render your enemy motionless for a while. It's effects are longer than the stun stick but it does no damage.
Bob-Omb = When used, you must first wind up the bob-omb, which will determine how far it will walk before it explodes. Keep pressing B while standing to wind the Bob-Omb and then press B while crouching to release it.
Bullet Bill Cartridge = Collect and utilize two bullet bills in order to use your thwomp stompers (two cartridges account for one entire item and takes up only one pouch of your tool belt). One cartridge can only be used to hit enemies with, but when thrown it's like an actual bullet and is more useful. If you press Y while wearing fueled thwomp stompers, you'll launch one of your boots by itself to damage enemies. The other thwomp stomper will replace the bullet bill cartridges in your tools and can be used like the previous boot.
Fire Extinguisher = Keep this handy when your partner gets hit by a toaster. Fire Extinguishers can also be used to blind enemies for a while, but use it wisely, it doesn't last forever.
Flashlight = Press B to turn flashlights on and off. Flashlights let you see better in dark areas, but they too use energy.
Devo Guns:Toad will give Luigi these items near the end of the game for the ultimate showdown between Mario, Luigi, and King Koopa.
Tools:Tools are needed to solve plumbing puzzles and can be accessed quickly on the touch screen. Just touch any tool to switch it with the item in your hand. If you have no items you can use any tool to hit enemies with.

Nothing's definite, I'm just throwing this out there as a suggestion, but you guys can definitely come to me if you need any more ideas.
Also, when I wrote all of this I was trying to be loyal to the movie, but I think I made a mistake. Were the thwomp stompers powered by one or two bullet bill cartridges? I can't remember.
