Well, it's a start. Hopefully they will be turned into nice Devo Guns in the near future. I'll be sure to update this thread with any new info as it developes.

Bump for some smb prop progress...



I haven't really got started on my devo gun yet, but I've tackled some smaller props now so hopefully I'll move back up to the devo gun soon.

Got another update...almost done.



Now comes the hard part...finding reebok tennis shoes in size .5 childrens.

Well, it's taken me 3 weeks just to make 6 of these little guys...and I probably would go insane if I started taking orders and had 10 or 15 to do a month. So...no, I don't plan to market these as they are just for my private collection.

And I'm currently 99.9% done with the project...

I got done with the feet, took me a whole day to do them...



And here they are in place and finished...for the most part...



Just need to throw on a reebok logo for the feet and I will be done. I don't currently have my DVD handy to take a snapshot of the underside of the feet...but if any one could give me a high res shot of the reebok logo on the bob omb...that would be great.

I think the next SMB prop I would try to tackle will be Daisy's meteorite necklace. Then after that maybe I can start on my Devo guns...

I must say, they are really awesome, especially with the Reebok booties I bet you could make a killer crystal pendant. Are you gonna try to do it the way Mark described it, or just something else?

I wish I could get one of these; sadly, it's a luxury I am unable to afford presently.

THWOMP

Okay...so I just started on a year old project...here are some progress shots.



I got these over a year ago...to turn them into this.



So around noon today I cracked them open and started building...



After two hours later...



The Devo Gun barrel is pretty much finished.





Here is what it looks like "roughly" put together.

Just have to work on the stock alittle bit and the scope and this bad boy is done!

Hey it's great to hear from you. The devo gun is looking great so far! I can't wait to see the finished product. And btw, if you're planning on tackling the thwomp stompers eventualy, check out the Jeff Goodwin interview. I believe there's some sort of snowboarding shoe that they used as a base.

All the pieces are painted...



Finished up with the scope and rear top half of the gun.



This gun is getting finished this week...no more delays...

looks great! Can't wait to see it done and then onto the Thwomp Stompers, I saw a pair of the ski boots on ebay but I dunno, not sure about the sizing either.

Rough edges bondoed and sanded down.

Just a few more tweaks and it will be done!

I took a few liberties while making it. So it's not really 100% accurate to the movie. More like it's a version 2.0 or something.

So next up in the SMB replica line up is a pair of thwompers...

It would be awesome if you could integrate lights and sounds, though surely that'd get costly and the movies had the luxury of adding sound effects in later. Good luck, I await your progress. I saw that awesome pic of the clay stompers so likely you won't need much reference but if you do need some screen caps by chance, I could grab some.

I too am anxious to see your progress on the Stomper Boots. Congrats on finishing up the Devo gun! Great Job!

My boots will probably be static replicas. Meaning no lights or moving parts. I'm not that versed in elecrtonics or complex prop making/molding.

I've got some ideas on how to start my thwompers, but man, are they going to be a pain. Easily the hardest SMB prop I've seen. The color coded uniforms and leather tool belts would probably be the easiest to do. I'm saving them for last as I am working on the harder stuff first, as the rest of my SMB costume will be a cake walk after that.

I'm working on a SMB luigi costume, btw. All the above replicas are going towards that...

All of your props are badass, I can't believe you went through the time to make the devo gun exactly like the movie. I honestly thought it was just spray painted black, but you proved that wrong. I bet your thwomp stomps, and bullet bills will look awesome.

Update:

Cut down the length of the grenade shell to match the movie version. Broke 3 cutting bits on ONE shell. Glued both halves together.



Cleaned it up and painted it.



Just need to put a big smiley face on the end of it and I'm done.

personally I think that the bullet bill came out alittle "too happy"...but I figure thats not going to matter as it will be stuck inside a boot the whole time.

Going to make one more like this and then hopefully get started back on the boots again.

Awesome! Amazing! Hoping to have something for Halloween?! That would be great if you did. Can't wait to see how the boots come along.

Nah, I don't think I'll have anything ready for halloween. Too many projects dividing my time.

I did find some time though to make some quick progress on the boots. I've stripped the boots down to the bare essentiuals and got a bunch of PVC pipes from Lowes to make the pistons and such.





Keep in mind, everything was "roughly" put together for the photo update. I still have to make the ribbed section of the thwomper and the lighted lace part with the flashing lights.

The hardest part for me I think is going to be the "jump plate" or the slab of metal that the boot itself rests on. Mines going to be made of of wood so I'm thinking it will work out fine in the end.

Oh wow, I'm super impressed already. Judging from your other work, it should be spectacular when finished. Be sure to make an extra one that I can purchase from you for an insane amount of Koopons.

I will be so jealous when you finish these boots. I was thinking of just wearing my movie Mario jumpsuit costume I made with the hat for halloween, but now that I see you ahve these boots, I will know my costume would be nothing wihtout them.

They already look kick ass. You are a good prop maker, you should look into that kind of business(if you arent already.)

Thanks for the comments, they're pushing me onward. This is such a time consuming project...no wonder I have put it off as long as I have.

Some more updates:





both pistons are done. bullect bill canister is done. They are fully assembled and put in place ready to be screwed in on the boot. Working on the ribbed section next...really dreading the jump plate. Thats going to be a real bugga.

I also ordered my leather tool belt today...going to start filling that with "tools" once it gets here.

And I'm already looking into parts for a flamethrower.

But I'm not gonna touch that until the boots are done...
