My Christmas Project Idea...

dunno if I will pursue it, haven't gotten much more than just the idea. So I was looking online and saw different Mario X-Mas projects people had made. Such as ornaments and Mario cookies and saw a Kuribo's Shoe green XMas stocking with Mario's head sticking out and had this insane thought that I would make a Thwomp Stomper stocking....

I went as far as to do some looking around and found they of course have big blank red stockings(well with the white fluffy top) for like $2. I almost got it but knew I really had no idea of the best way to go about it. As far as making the details like the metallic pieces, I guess they could be made semi 3D glued on, I dunno. Any thoughts? I hate that I probably won't do anything with this but thought the idea was too silly not to share :D I of course have no need for a stocking but the idea seemed fun.

some fun ideas. Although it's getting close now...

I like the idea of a Thwomp Stomper socking. While a Kuribo's Shoe stocking is fairly creative, a Thwomp Stomper-themed one would be a lot more original.

I have a few basic ideas how you could do it quickly, visually-pleasing, and, most importantly, cheap. If you're interested, just ask and I could post some of the things that came to mind.

oh yeah I'd definitely be interested! :D I even thought about looking at hobby/craft places all the little jewelry and gem crap they have for maybe having the lights on the boot with some little red gems or something. If this idea could help someone :D Or maybe I could work one out or try it next year.

Well, the problem is you have to do a little work to not make it look like crap. I wouldn't recommend gluing fabric to it, so you'll have to sew. As for a metallic shine, I thought it'd be simple and cheap to sew in a fabric frame over tin foil with a saran wrap or other clear wrapping cover to prevent ripping. Not exactly the best method, but, as I said, quick and cheap.

I like your idea for little gems to make it light up. I'm sure there's some stockings already out there that you could scavenge the electric parts from to incorporate into the new stocking, if you wanted to go even further.

Now that I think about it, leather would work. You know that gray leather they use for some car seats? Not exactly metallic, but it has a vague Thwomp-coloration and pattern.

oh yeah definitely not fabric. Was thinking more of a heavier more rigid material. Yeah it would definitely take some work. I have used some aluminum metallic spray paint before with good results. Think it might give it a nice dull metallic silver look. Who knows :D I guess it will take some research and planning and what kind of look you wanna go for.

I have something that might help you out. I'll have to dig it out of my personal SMB art stash.

yeah? That'd be awesome. I went through and got some great pics from the movie and of course the trading card and the clay stomper pics that was posted as well as the foam boot set, dig around for a certain car toys door if you want to as well :D :D

I'd love to see what you have too, can never have too many Thwomp Stomper references. 8)
