Thanks for the complement. Mario's suit is a red Dickies I found at a Dickies store in one of Vegas' outlet mall. Luigi's one is the suit I had to wear for one of the jobs I was working on, hence the dark spots. And for both of them I just removed the sleeves and hemmed the ends. That way I still can use the shirt, but I still had to sacrifice half of one for the pockets.

Did you and your brother get any interesting responses to your costumes? I imagine a lot of people would be surprised at seeing such an obscure cosplay choice.

The costumes are great! And you guys definitely fit the roles of movie Mario and Luigi quite well. Keep posting the pics here--we want to see them!

I'm also curious to read the kinds of reactions you guys are getting.

The only notable reaction was from a kid asking "Where's the 'M'?" and the mom saying "Mario doesn't have to have a M"
Other than that just people asking for pictures and from people remembering the movie.

At least there wasn't a negative reaction. It's cool that your work was so well-received. Hopefully you two can find more opportunities to sport the costumes, perhaps for a site-related project.

That sounds intriguing. What do you have in mind?

I think a short film continuing the story of the movie or at least featuring the characters in some way would be a cool idea, especially since we have a good resource of props and creature stuff to work with. However, that's just a dream until the concept proves feasible.

Otherwise, the first ever "Super Mario Bros.: The Movie Screening/Fan Convention" (more likely idea) would be a good place to really geek-out with costumes.

The short film sounds interesting but my filming buddies are not that interested in one right now. Maybe one day I can convince them.
As for the convention, I won't be going to the mainland anytime soon.

That is some damn good work there. The fact that you just happened to have the green overalls only makes it better. It is good to see the movie costumes get some love, even if I still think Mario's red suit should be just a hair darker.

(I maintain that it should have been blue with red sleeves/pockets and blue with kelly green sleeves/pockets. The color red is like black pepper--a little bit goes a long way, and when red is the dominant color, everything looks just a bit "off." I don't know why this is. As it stands, though, it looks ICONIC.)

All you really need is the Stomper boots and everything will be perfect. Actually, I just had an idea for replicating the action figures' 'weapons' as props...a cross between a jackhammer and a plunger/monkey wrench, if I'm not sorely mistaken.

Good job, if I didn't always go as myself to the conventions I'd go dressed in one of the Marios' jumpsuits.

I'm the kind of clown who goes to those conventions dressed in my street clothes and I always have a friend with me who dresses up like Goku from Dragon Ball or something and people say "Wow, it's Goku!" And I always intervene and say: "Yeah, but you'll never guess who I'm supposed to be." Then walk away, leaving them guessing.
