After seeing redstar;s old but still intruiging SMB Fan Edit I thought I would share some edits I would make.(These are not in order.)
1. After the scene where Mario is instructed the wherabouts of Daneialla, cut the part of Koopa walking and just have the part where Luigi and Daisy get out of Devo-4 and right into them. Why? Because its a bit funnier how it is implied that Koopa and his cronies were just walking and then Luigi and Daisy burst out of the door. Also that walk that Koopa does is a bit..weird.
2. When Iggy finds the plumbers and Spike starts up the engine cut immediatly when they're captured and tied up. Why? Because this is actually a bit funny. I mean the orginal was just slapstick and slow, this cut not only paces faster but it also explains quicker just how pathetic these guys are. I don't think we needed a miute of them screwing around with the car buggy.
3. Cut out Koopa's laugh before Mario shoves a thwomp stomper at him. Its pretty cheesy and it sounds nothing like his later laugh when he finds out that the worlds are merging.
4. Right before the merging scene starts cout out the part when Koopa's flamethrower goes out. It was already done once and it also defies common sense from Mario. I mean Koopa is trying to fix his flamethrower and Mario''s just standing there. You'd think he would at least try to push Koopa.
5. Remove the pizza jokes. Well except for the first one, the other (Where's my pizza and sir your pizza's here) like many people say is just corny so cut them.
6. Cut out the part where Koopa finds out that Daisy is in Devo-4. It makes cut no.1 seem moreo n the lines that he was actually going somewhere else with his cronies. And it gives more of a ironic punch. I mean Luigi and Daisy are hoping that koopa doesn''t find them and then they just barge out of the door and Koopa is by.
7. At the end, instead of the title again i'll just put "GAME OVER?" at the ending title. It adds a little reference to the games in a way and it digs further into the sequel hook.
8. Cut out the opening sequence. No-brainer.
9. I would also cout out the entire opening sequence and just begin with opening title and head to the Mario Bros. I would also edit the scene where Koopa is monologing about how dirty his place is or maybe even cut it. That way it would be more of a surprise to see that koopa is the lawyer than just knowing its a trap. But then again there would be continuity problem concerning how koopa knew about the Mario Bros. So this one is in the air.
So what do you think? Give me your honest opinion.

Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

Re: My own little list of edits that I would make
I think some of these cuts/changes would work well in the movie, but some of them are simply too much or would be impossible to implement. Personally, the one idea that really stands out to me is the "GAME OVER...?" title, which would have been a pretty cute way to reference video games in general as well as suggest a potential sequel in a way that most people probably couldn't joke at.
I do disagree with removing the opening sequence featuring Daisy's mother. That's my favorite scene of the entire movie for various reasons, including the atmosphere and complementary music. While removing it might improve the movie's pace, I think it really sets the movie off on the right tone and demonstrates the themes and visuals we'll be exploring later on. There's an unbelievable amount of foreshadowing in that sequence.

For the first point, Koopa walks "weird" because in the film he tries to mimic how an "evolved T-Rex" would walk, with his arms held up like a T-Rex.
For the second point, that reminds me of Back to the Future. The theatrical cut didn't have "to be continued" at the end--that was only added after they announced the sequel and was put on the VHS. I could see a similar thing having happened if they made a sequel for SMB.
And for the third point, no--absolutely do not cut the prologue sequence with Daisy's mother and Koopa. That's the absolute LAST thing I would cut in the film.

Well thanks for your opinion. While I do agree cutting the entire prolouge does sound stupid, I said it because again, Bowser at the time was a pretty well known videogame villian and it just seemed a bit clever to disguise Koopa's face until the Larry Lazard scene. Though yeah, I don't think doing that cut would e smart.
So again thanks for your opinion.
