Movie-inspired Poems *NEW AND DARK ADDITION*
The Koopa
Beware the tyrant Koopa, my Son.
With those beady eyes and
a flick of his lizard tongue,
he'll take you out with a
single shot from his Devo Gun.
A transformation gone wrong
brought the human qualities desired
as well an ever-growing inner fire.
His thirst for control will never wane,
I think it's safe to say...he's gone insane.

Re: The Koopa
This is really cool. I like how completely you outlined Koopa's pathos through such a brief poem. Any details you can share about the process you took in writing it and what it's about?

Re: The Koopa
I wrote it in just a few minutes, maybe 5. I just get these little creative bursts and I thought a poem about Koopa would be a nice change from the things I usually write about. It's basically a twist on the Jabberwocky poem.

Re: The Koopa
I'm not sure what else I can say that Redstar hasn't already expressed, but I'll try anyway. You've done an excellent job capturing Koopa's personality (love the mention of his lizard tongue, btw), and I really admire your ability to rhyme without sounding at all cheesy. You're a great poet, and I hope to see more of your writings soon.

Bless you, dear. Your compliments have truly touched me. I'll definitely be bringing more once I get those bursts of creativity again.

Re: The Koopa
Aww, you are more than welcome, Daisy. ^^ And I know what you mean regarding "bursts of creativity". When I get those, I'll want to write whatever it is right away, even if I have another project going at the time (which I almost always do. LOL).

Yes, that's exactly how I felt about this poem. I felt that if I didn't get it down that the ideas would go away.

In the confines of the chamber,
the macabre lizard magician performs
the only authentic disappearing act.
People come from all around to see,
but will their spectating end in joy
or tragedy?

Ruins of Dinohattan
Ruins of Dinohattan
Through the fog, shadows emerge as I peer closer.
The citizens of Dinohattan re-living that brave
yet fatal riot against their tyrannical ruler?
Remnants of buildings, long since destroyed,
rise like eerie memorials to those who lost
their lives.
A Tribute to Daisy and Her Mother
You're brave,
You've had your share
Of heartaches
But God knows your strong.
Before you ever met,
You lost your biggest
Role model to something
You had no control over.
The stars shine down upon
You, She shines down upon
You. You never lost her,
Do not cry little one.
Death could not contain
Her beautiful heart,
Her loving spirit.
Don't fear the future.

Re: Ruins of Dinohattan
Wow, your just writing these from left to right, and they're good! I espically like Ruins of Dinohattan, mosty because its short and to the point, and it doesn't ryhme.I like ryhming poems but poems that don't ryhme are much easier to write, since you dn't have to make sure this ryhmes with that and stuff.
Overall, good poem.
Its also surpirisingly detailed for such a short poem. Its amazing how much you stuff in a poem and still make it seems short.

Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

I know what you mean. How do you think I posted all of those posts for RP all in one day? I always get those sparks when I think I got something.

As a huge fan of Daisy's mother I appreciated reading A Tribute to Daisy and Her Mother. It's a wonderful tribute to a mysterious, yet beautiful, character.

Re: Movie-inspired Poems
Hooray! New poetry by Daisy! ^^
These are all wonderfully written, and really capture the significance of the SMB universe. Like Redstar, I think my favorite would have to be A Tribute to Daisy and Her Mother, just because it's so personal and heartfelt. It brings to mind the an image of Daisy in her childhood, sitting alone in her room at the orphanage as she gazes sadly at her pendent and imagines what her mother was like.

The Statue of Saviors ~ A haiku poem.

for Dinohattan's young and old,
rest, weary heroes.

A Day into the Dinohattan Civil War
The melodious tapping of the
drums flows amidst the cool
night-time air as I draw nearer,
feet shifting across the sandy
desert floor.
A silhouette of the tyrannical
Koopa can be seen, sitting inside
his tent, seeming to be drawing
out his next move.
A group of four Goombas stand
around a crackling campfire,
waltzing slowly from left to right,
dancing to ease their nerves.
They turn to face me, one
in particular is especially
striking in his expression.
He is definitely the youngest
of the group and is standing
closer to the tent, staring
at me with solemnity.
He tries to join them in their
merry get-together, but I see
his true feelings. I look back,
my face sympathetic, as I wonder
what troubles him.
Perhaps, he has lost a dear
friend today that he fought
alongside. Or does his mind linger
on his own mortality? If only the
citizens of Dinohattan had not been
foolish enough to re-elect Koopa,
then this war would never be.

Re: Movie-inspired Poems *New Poem Added!*
What a lovely haiku, and one that would go very well with one of your Mario and Luigi arts.
A Day into the Dinohatten Civil War was such a moving, heartfelt piece. The description is splendidly done, and provides the reader with a clear image of what's happening.

Re: Movie-inspired Poems *New Poem Added!*
(This is a new poem dedicated to Daisy. I imagined her writing it when she was being held captive in Koopa's Tower. I really like how it turned out myself.)
An Eagle Soars
You'll never clip this eagle's wings.
She knows her heart, what makes
it sing. These are not your dreams,
they are her dreams. We do not
live our lives for other people, but
for us. Maybe you do not always
understand her, but perhaps
you should try. Let her flee
to her daydreams, for they are
her personal sanctuary and where
she plans a fruitful life.
She knows we can only truly live,
if we live a life free of fear.

Re: Movie-inspired Poems *NEW POEM UPDATE!!!*
Wow, this turned out so beautifully, and the imagery with the eagle is so suiting for Daisy's situation. The mood you've created here really captures her feelings of such an unforgettable moment in the film.
P.S: I love your banner! It depicts one of my favorite scenes, as you well know.

I think I'd be interested to hear a poem of "hope" set before Mario & Luigi's arrival during the height of Koopa's reign. Perhaps it's being "sung" by an unidentified spirit implied to be Toad... It can end with a call to "Trust the Fungus."

Toad's Wish
The dawn of a new era
has risen,
It is bleak and desolate,
thanks to him.
My land needs a savior,
to come and heal
it's wounds and those
of it's people.
Will they ever come?
Will they come from afar
or will they rise from
the rubble of what used to be?

Here's a satirical haiku about the film's production and premiere...
They once made a film.
It didn't go very well.
Blah, blah, blah, the end.
I'm a writer, not a poet.

No, I'm not feeling moody. This is based on an rp I engaged in on Facebook last night. Enjoy!
Instincts Will Prevail
Her scent drives him wild,
His predatory instincts
Getting the better of him.
Both of their hearts race now,
but for very different reasons.
She tries to flee, then nails
like claws, pierce into her wrists.
She looks into the eyes of
an hungry and ancient killer.
