Musical re-edit, featuring video game music

Postby Movieguy » Sat Aug 18, 2012 3:00 pm

Hey this is an idea I've had before I even joined the forums. I am going to go through out almost the entire film and try to include music for most of the action scenes.
A good example is the escape segment from the jail. The athletic theme from super mario world suits this.

Or the slide theme from 64 goes perfect with the ice slide segment. etc etc.

As the film progresses the music gets more modern. Say up to 64 or even galaxy depending on whats voted.
Music from rpg or superstar would be cool too.

What I need is some ideas for what music i should use. The modern galaxy games include tons of music. Yet I want your input and opinions on what music would best fit where in the film. The most trouble I have is figuring out the music for the real world segments.

The scene where mario luigi repair the pipes is one example of me trying to figure out what classic tune would fit.
Also the police car scene, I was thinking super mario karts opening. Yet maybe you guys could come up with something better, though mario kart related.

Thanks and I hope you like my idea. around Friday I will try to begin this project.

edit:I want to know if it's possible to exclude music from certain scenes altogether. I've seen it done with other things before, yet I have no idea if this is possible with say this film. I want to keep the speech audio. Though I think I might just lower the volume of the film and include the vgms.

Oh and I want to make a video featuring the super show theme/themes.

I think the slide music from SM64 would much better fit during the scene where Mario is traveling dimensions.

Plus, during the scene where Lena and the goombas are invading the Boom Boom Bar I always imagined the Green Hills remix from DDR:Mario Mix playing in the background.
Isn't this a little feminine?

Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.

But you wear this stuff?!

Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

For the scene I wanted to leave it unchanged actually unchanged walk the dinosaur is awesome. Yet I will check this out 1up.

Is it this??

Or garden boogie.

Bowsers theme 64

I want to be able to include this I think it would fit well with the first koopa scene maybe, whats your thoughts.

A good sampling of all the bowser boss music.

Actually I meant this:

Though now that I listen to it again it sounds a bit too modern for the dance scene's taste. Tldr: It wouldn't fit with the scene.

One of our members attempted something similar before, though he focused exclusively on the ice tunnel scene.

The video has unfortunately been taken down, though it's nice to see people revisiting such a cool concept. I hope you can make something fun!

Sorry for the low sound I use a music bullet for my pc speaker. unless you have loud speakers. I would suggest head phones until you can hear it with ease.

Part 1

Enjoy!

The opening part is a bit quiet turn up the volume.

Part 2
