SMB-related dreams
I just had a dream wherein I went to a convention with a few people and ran into Bob Hoskins and a non-speaking John Leguizamo (who later became a non-speaking Fiona Shaw) at a nearby Taco Bell. Dressed in a home-made Mario costume somewhat based off the movie's design, I gathered the courage to talk to Hoskins about an interview.
He ended up pulling out a convention pamphlet which apparently had three rules, one of which was "No SMB movie questions". Hoskins then proceeded to flip through the pages and circle rare artwork and correct badly-drawn Pokemon fanart.
Finally, he began to leave but once I explained more thoroughly the need for an interview he expressed some interest, but only gave me an old McDonald's cup with an SMB movie tab (like the Monopoly game they have all the time) and an SMB Taco Bell sauce packet. Both already used. He then hugged me and when I looked up into his eyes I noticed that his left eye was green and reptilian. I didn't say anything to avoid being killed.

Re: SMB dream
What an interesting dream. I have many SMB Movie Related dreams. Like one time in a dream my dad sent me a video on phone and guess who appeared in the video? John Leguizamo!
Plus I had another one where King Koopa bursted into my room and captured me and took me to dinohatten. He said something like "Filthy mammal." And I said "You really are nuts are you?" Then I woke up.

Re: SMB dream
It's just one of those weird topics. I focus on any given topic for months at a time and never once dream about it, but the one day where I relaxed my mind on the subject I have a dream about it. Only thing I can think that may have triggered this dream was my recent return to this forum, though I was never truly inactive.

Re: SMB dream
I just remembered another dream I had this morning that involved me finding early concept art for a gun that launches Bob-Ombs much like a high-powered slingshot. In the dream I was discussing it with Phlibbit and how I felt it would have been a much more dangerous and interesting weapon than the Fry Guy flamethrowers, though now that I'm awake I much prefer the flamethrowers thematically.

New Dream: Every single cut footage was released, giving us a total of 800 minutes of footage (including both deleted scenes and alternate takes) to work with for an extended re-release. Also, there was some crazy musical during the end-credits involving the actors who played the Goombas singing.

Re: SMB dream
Crazy stuff man! While reading that last part with the musical bit, I came up with a little song for it. Here it is.
Koopa:
Koopa has took us
and made us goombas
and then he was killed
and we are freed hoora!
We no longer serve that big ball of slime
cus he abused us
and gave us a bad time!
Koo-PA is gone!
He will not return again!
Koo-PA is gone!
And now we will stomp over him!
Oh its been a real true nightmare
serving King Koopa
but with no time to spare
these Mario Brothers just gave us good us luck
and Koopa was dead so we didn't give a....you know what!
Koo-PA is gone!
That evil tyrant is dead!
Koo-PA is gone!
And now we can sleep in our beds!
Oh that dictator's gone and now we are free
we can do whatever we want and we're now full of glee
thanks to those 2 brothers for freeing us, we owe them
cus all that time they were trying to save we were to trying to kill them dead
Oh Koo-PA is gone!
His evilness is no more!
Oh Koo-PA is gone!
We can now have open doors!
Oh Koo-PA is gone!
That big bully got what he deserved!
Oh Koo-PA is gone!
And now we see him as a turd!
(Fin.)
Done, what do you think? Does it seem like a porbably song for that bit?

That's really cool man! I didn't realize I hadn't responded to you when you first posted the song, so I can't say that's exactly how the song went in my dream after all this time, but it's really great anyways. If had only a few zanier lines it'd really fit in well with Toad's anti-Koopa song and Iggy and Spike's revolution song.

You should print the lyrics out and draw doodles of Goombas surrounding it singing and other characters... That'd be really cool!

Re: SMB-related dreams
I had one once. It was all over the place, but Koopa decided to placate the angry dino-people by telling them to eat the fungus surrounding the city--he'd take the carnivores to Brooklyn with him and leave the herbivores behind. It also had Lena going with him for the invasion, and she blew up a building before reverting to some creepy lizard form. Think Yoshi had a bit more to do, as well.

Re: SMB-related dreams
That's actually a pretty cool dream. Enough details to work as an actual story, albeit an alternate take on what happens in the film. If you read the earlier scripts you can see a bit of dissent between the carnivores and herbivores as well as Koopa explicitly detailing herbivorism as what brings down society, so I can totally see Koopa abandoning them for a new world in his reptilian image.

I've had so many Mario dreams, once when I was about in 4th grade, I remember having a dream that movie Mario was devolved into a goomba. A none related Mario movie dream I can remember I was running around in the bob-omb field level from Mario 64, only it was a tad different. I had to make long jumps over long trenches and huwhat not.

Strangely, I don't recall having any dreams involving the actual games of Mario (though I do remember one where I found "lost" titles and interesting bootlegs). I may have had one involving the Thwomp Fortress of SM64; can't be too sure.

Re: SMB-related dreams
Had another SMB movie dream last night--Koopa was chasing this guy all over town. i dunno who it was--maybe Toad, or the pizza delivery boy. But he finally caught up to him by pinning him under a truck. He was snarling and acting all creepy, but the guy wasn't fazed even as he moved to tear him apart.
"You've caught me. Butcha know what? I'll still be around."
Wasn't scared to die.

Re: SMB-related dreams
I've had TONS lol, being the big fan that I am
I'll briefly name off some I can remember!
* My first SMB dream I had was right after the movie came out;I was stuck in Dinohattan & Luigi came up to me with stomper boots for some reason, I put them on, went flying, but, they stopped working in mid-air so I fell to a crash
*I had a dream I went to the dollar store and there was a whole bunch of free ERTL Super Mario Bros. figures!
That was an awesome dream as a kid! Especially since I never got The Crash Action Police Car until I was older
*One dream was that Goombas were chasing after me & I jumped over a huge gap, across the other side was Koopa with a flamethrower, I beat him down, and found myself an SMB DVD!
(This was back when DVDs were new & no one thought Mario Bros. would be released on this new video technology!)
*During the course of when the movie was taken out of most theaters, I dreamed many dreams about getting the VHS!
*I recall having various dreams of The Goombas in an elevator
I've had more probably, but, these are the ones I can remember at this moment

Re: SMB-related dreams
Had a couple of interesting dreams involving the movie that I forgot to post.
The first combined the fungus with the alien of John Carpenter's The Thing. Apparently, someone had had dealings with the fungus before and traveled to Antarctica upon news of the discovery of a giant, secret pyramid. This pyramid is soon found to be infested with an evil fungus (the same fungus as the King, somehow) which begins to kill people. Only Mario, a young man lost and raised in the pyramid with the same wisdom, ingenuity, and "civilized" naivete of Mowgli from Disney's 1994 live-action film can stop it.
In my other dream, which I had Christmas morning, I visited a movie theater (presumably back in '93) and saw dozens of preview posters for SMB. Each depicted a stylized rendering of a Goomba. One even had an abandoned Pixar-developed version in digital style. Most interestingly, some posters had "DELETED SCENE" underneath the "SUPER MARIO BROS." title, as if it was a special version featuring only that one deleted scene.

I once had a dream where I somehow got to start filming a sequel and it had Koopa in his somewhat de-evolved dino form with the dino-like face and extended hands. And it even showed a scene where he was talking to a somehow revived Lena. really all I remember from it.

That sounds really cool. Ive thought of ways to return Lena in a sequel myself, if only because Fiona Shaw was probably the best actor in the movie.
Re: SMB-related dreams
Back with another SMB dream. This time I seem to be wanting to watch it on TV and had even hummed the theme and walah what do you know, I switch to a movie channel and it starts! You could tell it was imidiately different though and as it started, it seemed to feature deleted scenes of the opening that were never talked about, like how Coopa is told that the princess is escaping.
I instantly rewinded the movie so I could record it, and it must have unlocked more scenes (not sure how that happened) but next thing you know I'm actually seeing Iggy and Spike helping the princess out of some place. The rest of the movie from what I saw is some big chase through some facility with the Mario Brothers. It was crazy. Definitely not the Mario we grew up with.

I had a dream where me and my best friend had Thwomp Stompers and we ended up battling a wizard who resembled both Koopa and the Jack Nicholson Joker and I ended up in a pile of dirt and my friend was fighting glass monsters from the 1930's.
Luigi...mess this up, and I'll be an only child.

I've had a reoccurring dream for the last fifteen years now that I'm in line to see the movie at the theater, and someone or something always gets in my way before I can see the premiere of the "extended cut" of the film. Though there was one time that I actually got into the theater and the extended cut began, but then there was a tear in the sprocket-hold and I woke up.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

Re: SMB-related dreams
Well, this was certainly an interesting topic for me to come across this morning. Today, I woke up from a dream involving me encountering Dennis Hopper with his Koopa hair. I take it I was seeing his ghost because in the dream I actually got so excited that I addressed him, only for him to not even so much as glance at me. I cannot recall if he was just sort of gliding or walking very slowly as he passed me. The creepiest thing about this dream? He was coming up the stairs from between two apartment buildings that are across from me, passed by me in the parking lot and continued down the steps between my building and the one up from it! These apartments have been said to be home to hauntings and many times when I am at my computer at night, I will see a light pass by my window on the outside! I usually have to have something on my mind when I fall asleep to dream about it but the Mario movie and Dennis were not even in my thoughts!

Hm, we must go deeper.
Did Dennis ever visit that apartment of yours? You know like for a publicity stunt or something? Either way, that's a very interesting story worth looking into.

As far as I know, he never even ventured to Ashland, Kentucky. Of course, anything is possible and I never really looked into it. I just never saw a reason to but for it to have taken place so vividly right here, then surely it must have SOME meaning. I think?

Okay, so I just typed in Dennis Hopper Ashland, Kentucky into the Yahoo search box and it brought up a Legacy.com obituary article with a guest book for people to write their condolensces. And one of the people that had signed it was me and I had put where I lived. I totally forgot about signing this and it must have been months and months ago since I did. Hmmm. I'm still confused.

Well, I did post on several topix boards having to do with cities Dennis worked in or lived in asking if there had been reports of his ghost lingering in any of these. This is going to sound really odd...but...maybe it was him letting me know he is still sticking around?

Okay, I am finding out some insane things since I started 'digging deeper' into the reasons for my dream. Dennis Hopper was related to Daniel Boone and I am related to Boone's sister on my Dad's side! We think.

Re: SMB-related dreams
Not a close relative but that theres some family connection between you and him. Maybe you always knew but forgot a long time ago and now your mind is trying to make you remember. Why it would now is a big question but its possible.
