Nintendo Wii U Discussion/Recommendations

Postby Phlibbit » Sun Nov 18, 2012 4:24 pm

Since Nintendo's new console is out today, I figured I'd make another one of our popular "Discussion/Recommendations" forum for the Wii U.

Who got one? Who's getting one? What games are good? Here's the thread to discuss all that!

I'll kick the thread off with my Wii U plans. I preordered the Deluxe set the day Nintendo announced it, and I should be picking it up later today. I originally had New Super Mario Bros. U and Zombie U on pre-order, but I'm going to hold off on those until Christmas.

I think the included Nintendo Land will be enough to hold me over until then. Not to mention that I worked on a Wii U launch title: Ben 10 Omniverse. I'm actually pretty excited to get my copy of that and see how it all turned out.

Why do that when you can put it on Craig's List on Black Friday and make a fortune.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

I had to cancel mine and will get one when the price goes down. I am admitting I can't afford one at the moment. I want the new Mario game but I am worried it will be the same thing they keep giving us, but I know I will get it anyway. I would realy like it if they announced a real Mario platformer like Mario 64 2, and the new Zelda game. OH i'd really like to get the new James Bond game.

Yeah cause that's the best idea ever

Just opened it up, and I'm getting it set up now. It's pretty cool, asthetically speaking. Not too keen on the 4-hour firmware update though, but that's to be expected. Just holding the gamepad in my hands and beginning to use it has me really excited. I can't wait to see what Nintendo comes up with for Zelda on this thing.

Not sure if I'm ready for the Wii U yet. I can't afford a new game console at the moment, and I can't say I'm too excited about it. The game pad looks really cool, but I'm not sure exactly how it's gonna work as a controller for the system. I'd rather plat it at my friend's house first to see how I like it.

How do you feel about the system's online functionality? Is it a good comparison to what Microsoft and Sony offer or still a leg behind?

Got mine Thursday last week, and all I've really gotten to play on it so are NSMBU and Miiverse. I've got Nintendo Land and Ninja Gaiden 3 here, with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and a Ben 10 game on the way. Scribblenauts Unlimited is high on my list as well.

Overall, I'm rather enjoying it. The Miiverse is more fun than I imagined it would be. Nintendo didn't really do a very good job of selling it, though it might just be that you have to try it for yourself.

Well, after checking the Wii U out at my friend's house (he got it for Christmas), I've got to say it's actually really awesome. He got the the deluxe edition, and the images look great in HD. It comes with netflix, hulu, and amazon preinstalled. The Miiverse is Nintendo's own kind of social networking, and you can even video chat with friends! The game pad is really cool, and we were to play NSMB U with the wiimotes. I would love to have one, but I wanna wait for the price to go down.

I finally got to open my Wii U and start playing with it! For Christmas, I got Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition. It pained me greatly to do so, but I returned it to the store so I could pick up NSMBU and ZombieU. Haven't tried either yet :)

My brother promises to buy us a WiiU so that we can play the Wind Waker remake and presumably the new Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. I'm not holding him to that, but it would be great to have those games. Be sure to let us know how they play if any of you get to them before we do!

Did anyone buy or download Luigi U? I really enjoy it and love the fact that they are finally bringing back players own abilities. This game is fast paced and very stressful. In the end it's a great game.

I bought a Wii U several weeks ago as my girlfriend had been insisting that we get a Wii to watch Netflix. I figured the U would serve that function while also allow us to play some of the upcoming titles I've been waiting for.

Needless to say, while we have made great use of the streaming functionality, we are still waiting on any good titles to play. Windwaker HD, Smash Bros. and Mario Kart need to come sooner!

I totally agree, I am dying for October to get here. This is the first installment of time repeating itself with a remake of Zelda first, then a new Mario game, and hopefully Wii U kicks off after that cause if it doesn't, I don't see its life lasting.

I finally got a Wii U during Black Friday. Best Buy had a deal that day where you could buy a Wii U Mario/Luigi Bundle for $299, and a Luigi or Mario Wii-mote and Nintenderland for just an extra $20! I couldn't pass it up.

Anyway, I love the Wii U so far and have enjoyed playing NSMBU and Super Mario 3D World. I'm getting an HDTV from Amazon tomorrow so I can't wait to hook it up and see how it looks! Very satisfied so far.

It's good to see more people getting WiiU's. So many have that Nintendos servers went down for a while. Though honestly I have entered PC gaming. I feel as if I've neglected my U by doing this but honestly Steam is the best that I personally think is out there. You swap games with your friends, or trade them online, over thousands of games are ready to go, and there is constantly daily deals. If WiiU does go under (which I personally dont see happening anymore)Nintendo should seriously look into a Steam like program.
