Long time fan, first time poster

Postby nesboy43 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 4:52 pm

Hi there. I've infrequently viewed this site every once in a while over the years. I'm a huge fan of the film and loved to see that I was not alone. I meant to attend your LA screening but messed up the date on my calendar and was too late.

My thoughts on the film: I love it, always have. As a kid who would rent this from Blockbuster frequently (mid-late 90s), me, my siblings, and my neighbors all loved it. It's a lot of fun and never gets boring. Bob Hoskins and John are both endearing, charming characters. As for not being too much like the game, that was not an issue at all for me and my friends. In fact, we just loved that someone made a movie out of a video game we all liked. Just the fact that a movie company made this huge production about one of our beloved game characters felt great. It's a weird film and has its flaws. Really though it's incredibly entertaining and fun to watch. It has everything from car chases to ballroom dancing.

I'm glad to be part of a community that also enjoys this film that seems to be panned by most.

Welcome to the board, I'm Serum, the forum's first moderator-- I introduced the earliest available script (Tom Parker/Jim Jennewein's 1991 "fantasy" script) to the site back in 2008 or 2009 which seems to have spawned a lot of activity over the last five or six years! I take it your registration has been approved by one of our administrators? We've had some trouble lately with the system and had to close open registration due to some... technical difficulty. Once again, welcome to the board!
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

That's really interesting you were the one who leaked the first script. Yes, I had to email the administrator to register. Thank you very much!

I've been here a long, long time. I think it was in 2008 when I happened upon a website that sold screenplays and on a whim I bought one marked "Super Mario Bros.," it had no date or author, so I figured it would simply be a reproduction of the script used for the movie as we know it. What I found changed the very shape of this site and that discovery was the progenitor of subsequent script discoveries.

Welcome to the boards, nesboy! I'm glad you took the time to e-mail me and get into the board.

I also appreciate your thread about getting the SMB Blu-Ray to work here in the US! I'm trying to get my own copy burned. Just need to get a 50 GB blank Blu-Ray first...
