Screw it 0069 MISSION 3!!!

Postby ultimateemail5000 » Sat Dec 12, 2009 1:19 am

I think in 2006, it had to have been, I made a 58 page comic called Armored Hero 10x Horse Power!!! The idea is a young warrior who is not named, must slay a demon for kidnapping a Princess. It's almost like DBZ, SMB, Evil Dead, Ghosts N Goblins, and the Living Dead trilogy rolled into one. http://www.drunkduck.com/Armored_Hero_10x_Horse_Power/index.php )I would jump to FIRST PAGE for those who want to read) The comic itself is very raw, and by that I mean, it's very bad drawings, only in pixilated outlines, and to top it off it's not ment for kids. Infact, it's so damned offensive nobody should see it.

A year two went by and I tried fiddling around with the idea making it a 5 minute cartoon series in the style of DBZ, and other anime out there (I dunno, DBZ and Lupin the III, are the main anime that I really like, I don't really care for a lot of it) This was just a storyboard with additional audio(some missing voices)

I scrapped that idea, because honestly I want to make into an RPG. I whipped this add up in a classic NES style.

Image

The only thing is, I don't know scripting to make games on Flash. I would love to make this into a turn base RPG, with beautiful animated cut scenes. Let me know what you guys think of the idea. Also I really want to tone down the adult theme, but keep the violence.

If you're a decent animator, I know a forum of some of the best Flash scripters and animators there are. While most of them are now older and focusing on their jobs, if you like I can link you and you can register, posting your idea and maybe you'll get a nibble from one of the many scripters.

I like it. It's a distinct style. Dragon Ball and Lupin III are two of my favorite anime as well, so I'm sure I'll get into the comic.

That would be cool, I have just the front views of my main sprites created. I have all the frames made for the foreward walk of the main hero, in ragged clothing, and armor. I'll probably look into it once I have a lot of the sprites done, so I don't look like the guy who's like YEAH I HAVE ALL THIS STUFF DONE FOR IT, then comes to it and I have nothing, just two walking sprites and that's it.

I wouldn't say the comic has Lupin style, but the drawings were more like DBZ at the time, but I really changed that a lot. Also as I said it's very rated M. No not for Mario. hahaha

Yeah, that forum has a big problem with procrastination. I was the head of a fan Flash game project, but it died. So did about every other project the forum attempted, as well as personal ones. But, if you have all of your side done, then I'm sure any one of the scripters could churn out a basic script for you. Depends on what kind of game you want to do, but basic Flash games are easy for experienced programmers.

Dragon Ball has its plus-sides. I don't mind seeing its influence in other works.

I'm looking at it playing like Zelda on NES and SNES, but the fights are turn base like in Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Only in mine, I want the style where players can chose to fight by bump into the enemy then cut to turn base fighting. Instead of walking every 10 steps and going into a random battle, which gets old really fast. I dunno if that would be to hard to make on Flash or not, but I want to try it. If I knew scripting I could probably do it easily.

I'd say accomplishing that would be about medium difficulty.

I tried my hand at both Flash animation and Action Script, but in the end decided to stick with the only artistic expression I'm good at: writing. The farthest I ever went with AS was making buttons, anyways. Actually, it's possible to script an entire game using only "goto" buttons. It's tedious, difficult, and a giant tumbled ball of goto commands, but it can be done and you don't need any real knowledge. Just time. And lots of it.

Actionscript makes me wet the bed at night. If you want to work with something you can do yourself, why not try something like RPG Maker? I haven't done anything with it.

However, you might also be interested it a program called The Games Factory 2. It's really great for making some decent 2D applications with limited scripting knowledge.

What he said. Don't be me; infinite button branches emulating real script is not fun.

Ill have to look into GF2, as long as they let me import pictures and do whatever needs to be done from there that would be great. If it could go far I would make a version for the Wii where it's a click and drag RPG along with turn base fighting.

Here's a script I have for the start of game, it's kind of like a players guide.

Armored Hero RPG
Written by Chad Kyer

(1) GORK uses the term Zombies to summon what they are quickly

Jokingly before the story starts a loading screen appears.

A very long time ago there was a beautiful kingdom ruled by a King. Festivals would happen every week, the villagers would always be outside doing whether they were doing work, running shops, or children playing. As usual up in the mountains there is always a foul stench of evil lurking. A mountain has a demlon face carved on the outside of a evil cave hideout.

Demon Gork
I AM KING GORK! Ruler of all that is darkness. For years I lived above these mountains alone. I'vee watched over the Kingdom below me and saw the King hada baby girl years ago, I watched her grow up. The Kingdom is celebrating her 18th birthday, I will steal her and force her to be my bride to be! It's hard to find love when your face looks like it was smeared going down a mountain! To make matters worst, I HAVE TO WEAR CAPREE PANTS FOR MY HOOVE SHAPED FEET! DAMN, WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE NORMAL JEANS I CAN WEAR?! The Kingdom is beginning to celebrate Princess Nina's birthday. I am off to take my bride!

GORK flies out of his cave and heads toward to the village at full power. Meanwhile a huge ceromony is happening at the Kingdom, it's the celebration for the birth of Princess Lina. The adorable stupid spoiled bitch Princess. In celebration a huge cake arrives in the Kingdom, everybody is celebrating, fireworks are going off, clowns and jesters are entertaining everybody, they are all eagerly awaiting for the arrival of the Princess.

Princess Lina is in her bedroom, which is the highest room in the tower. She is getting ready for her big moment. She is now an adult. But she gazes out the window and sighs, hoping someday to find that person. The Princess sits down and sighs, and says "Well, atleast there will be plenty of cake."

Quickly at the celebration, DemonGork suddenly arrives and shouts to the crowd, "PEOPLE OF (nameless village,) YOUR' TIME OF HAVING LIFE ENDS NOW. YOU WILL ALL BE ZOMBIES!" Gork transforms the villagers into zombies. They all mutate and now the once happy villagers, are now evil, brainless, blood thirsty, brain eating, posessed demons(1).

Suddenly a bunch of screams are heard, Lina gets up quickly and looks around. Quickly, she turns around and from Gorks point of view he crashes through her window and grabs her. The guards start running up the stairs yelling for Princess Lina but what they see is Gork is holding the Princess. "Fools! You were to late! ARGHH!!!!" Gork transforms the guards into demons. Lina begins to scream for help.

Meanwhile in a little cottage where the Hero of the story lives, he s taking a nap. The boy is 15, he is an orphan but always took care of himself. He is the worlds hope. Suddenly he awakened from the sounds of a the Princess screaming for help. He jumps out of bed.

Gameplay:

Int. Young Warriors house - night

YW is not equiped with anything, search inside his dresser for ragged clothes
EQUIP - clothes
Search in YW closet for rusty sword
EQUIP - Wooden sword
Search under YW bed for wooden shield
EQUIP - Wooden shield

Leave the house

Cut scene

The boy walks outside of his house to see the sky is dark, when it should be day. He looks around then darts toward the village. He's stopped by zombies that he slashes his way through. He stabs one through the chest and slices up through its face, turns around quickly chopping off anothers head. He jumps over a log laying on the ground and swerves to the left really quick, line of zombies stand and his sword slices through all 6 zombies. Their torsos slowly slide and fall to the ground. more zombies begin to approach him but he is not stopped. He starts twirling his sword as if it were a mowing blade, slashing and decapitating whatevre stands in his way. He finally arrives at the Kingdom.

Game Mode:

Talk to the few ramining villagers who are injured.

That is where I stopped. It kind of sucks re-writing a story I already wrote.

Yep, TGF2 will let you do any SNES-ish game, really. Import sprites, animate them, add effects, controls, etc. Good stuff.

I am really liking this program, it's easy and I'm easily figuring it out. I'm makinga break out style game like the tutorial explains and I'm on step 7. I'm starting to think if I should make ita click and drag RPG with turn base to make it easier. I really don't want to get hyped about this though, it probably won't go far. But if it does, f$%@ yeah! I'll try to get it on Xbox Live, PSN, and WiiWare.

Yeah this project may be pushed to the side for a while until I can figure out the program, so instead I think I'm going to do a video game kind of like Elevator Action, Donkey Kong and, many others. I want to base it off of my actual finished cartoon Secret Agent Ron Conner, or 0069. It'll either be based off the first episode or a whole new story, I'm kind of thinking he saves a damsil in distress from maybe I dunno, a card welding maniac who goes by the name of High Five. Or it will be Bernard Ward, aka Burn Ward.

Anyway I put more effort into the Secret Agent thing and made up a ton of sprites

Image

I want it to look really low budget, like classic 8 bit and, not 16. I dunno even know if I"m doing this right though, I have no idea what file the pics need to be saved as to import them, I can't even figure out how to import anythign with that Game Factory 2. It might not have it since it's the demo I dunno.

Change that sprite sheet up there to a .PNG file (or BMP) and I should be able to help you.

Also, when you're making sprites, if you're using black, use a color that's a tad off from the standard black that's in paint or whatever. Why? Because that's the default color for transparency/invisibility in TGF2 and you'll end up having to redo all that once you get it into the engine.

That shouldn't be to hard to change the black to a different tone. I made these with Paint though and I noticed even when they're saved as a PNG the background is stlil white and not transparent. I'll probably have to do evreything all over again anyways. But I figured out how to import the frames last night and when I chose to remove white, it did so, but when I tested the sprite everything was black like you said only his face was visible. I'll resave these as a PNG and change the tone of black.

Looks like you're on the right track. When you get the frames in, you'll have to mess around with the hot spots and such probably to get a fluid animation.

Would you happen to know how to make the main sprite land on platform objects? I don't have anything else on the screen, but when I do a demo of the game the sprite just falls off the screen, unless I test his controls then he falls to the bottom and I can move him left and right. I just can't figure out how to make a base for him to walk on.

EDIT
Nevermind, I found a website that has instructional videos on everything. I watched how to make platforms well, platforms. If all goes to plan, this will be the greatest 8-bit spy game ever made.

Also I'm ditching the 8-bit look. I''m kind of bummed about it, but my innerself says it's the right thing to do, especially since my hand is healed now and I can draw again. Everything is going to be hand drawn and, I got my friend who makes some really good TrialsHD levels to design levels.

www.create-games.com is a pretty good community site for the Clickteam products. They have tutorials, forums, and user submitted games, etc.

Ah thank you, according to that site if I read correctly, Flash is colaborating with the people who make Games Factory to make a software even easier. I hope I read right that would be awesome.

Anyway many cigarettes later, I was able to draw up a ton of new sprites by hand since I don't want the 8-bit feel anymore.

Image
This is not exact size of the sprites, they were resized for quality reasons. Also I'm not sure why in two of the frames his neck is white. It's not like that in the game program.

I wanted to ask you guys which title screens do you guys like the best? The first two are in 8bit style and can be redrawn easily.

Image
Just a regulaor title with Ron Conner and a random sexy girl.

Image
This one is based off the first game Golgo 13 for NES.

Image
This one I drew on paper and traced it with Flash.

I'm thinking the best thing to do is create and build every level and then just hand it over to somebody who has the software on those sites Phlibbit provided.

Re: Screw it 0069 MISSION 3!!!

Postby ultimateemail5000 » Fri Dec 25, 2009 2:36 am

Screw the game, screw it all, maybe one day if I had a bigger business, but for now, it's just another prologue trailer for "The Black Cherry." The only thing I'll keep updated on is the prologue for Mission 3. The other 10 minutes is so much to animate (which is why Die and Burn Again never came about) I dunno if I'm up to doing another one yet. Here is the James Bond gunbarrel parody I made for "Secret Agent Ron Conner: 0069 in The Black Cherry" but in the place of the barrel is a sniper scope

In the new mini mission Ron Conner will meet a beautiful swedish girl known by the name Honey Moon, and will be up against the very first bad guy he faced in the series, Monfure Sonsheir (as seen in , who has been rebuilt in a mass destructive terrorist robot.
