Re: 11/15/10 Fan Art Update
EmperorNorton11's recreation of the iconic film poster with the traditional appearances of Mario and Luigi in his "Super Mario Bros." piece is simply one of the best reconciliations of the two versions I've ever seen. The linework is clean, the coloring is stylish, and the characters themselves have a pride and personality to them. Few could do any better.
operative274's rendition of Mario and Luigi in his "Movie Mario Bros." is simply one of the most complete I've ever seen. Everything from the Stomper boots to Luigi's rainbow-belt and backwards cap are carefully detailed in this work to such a degree that there can be no question that he is one dedicated fan.
I love how the Goomba in Lijik's "Herdy Gerdy" resembles a snake in both design and character. There's an intelligence glinting in those red eyes that is further instilled through the tie of a (slithery) businessman that indicates that this Goomba is a real threat. The way it's creeping-up behind a completely unaware Mario while malevolently grinning just makes it a dangerous enemy, while the premise of the piece assures us that it's still a humorous one.
