The Bros. will go on their quest with tough, manly Toad, Toadsworth the bartender and assitent of the king, the lovely Toadette (maybe), Yoshi, a friendly (when tame) dinosaur who likes apples, and is loyal to friends, and the items sent from the many spirits of brave warriors who lived long ago, including the Tanuki Leaf, the power to make you fly for a short time, the Fire Flower, the power to throw balls of fire, the Mushroom, the power to make you a giant, the Star, the power to make you incredebly invincable for a short time, and the Metal Cap, the power to make you metal and stronger than you were, together the Mario Bros. and their allies, with the help of the itmes will travel to find the 7 ultra power crystals, connect them to the golden mushroom of destiny, then add the mushroom with the 7 wands of darkness, and defat King Koopa before the ancient crown reaches his head and he will become a greater threat.

It seems like you're trying to tie together different aspects of the various games together into a single story using a new origin myth (the crystals) as a frame. This is actually the ideal route to go when creating a mythos, but simplicity is key. You're incorporating too many items, too many characters, and too much origin. You'll lose focus with this route.

I suggest getting back to the basics of this plot, that of the crystals, and working your way from there. How do they relate to the other items seen throughout the series? Were they crafted by the same source, or related in any way? If not, then you really don't need to stuff in the Metal Cap and every other item. It just swamps the viewer. Unless you want to make a long-running series, the focus just needs to be honed.

Ok, I took away most of the things like you said, though, I will keep Toadsworth, he's not a main character though, I think this should, also I cut the 7 wands part, because the only thing that part was in was to honor Mario 3, but how do you like it now?

Well you sort of took my suggestions literally without making them your own. But hey, my suggestions are good. Anyways, it is more finely-tuned now. I like how you re-imagined the Fire Flower and other items as having pieces of the crystals' power. The way you've set it up almost has a Legend of Zelda back story, with magic talismans and ancient sages. The Mario series would do well with some of that.

Bio: Larry is the cool guy of the Koopa group. Always walking slow, wearing sunglasses, and really giving a crap about anything, always being layed back. The truth behind is unkown, but some people say, Koopa kidnapped a child, turned him into one of the Koopas, erased all that kids memory, and filled it with gunk. Though, this is not entirely ture, Koopa hasn't denied it. And Larry doesn't even know how he relates to his brother, or his dad. He knows little of the Koopa family, and feels something in his mind triggering his brain.

Description: Layed back, a little careless, but still able to kick some butt, too. He wears a spikey black jacket, wears some biker gloves that look like Toads, wears a few chains inside his torn red shirt, wears dark blue jeans, with holes in them, and wears boots with spikes on them. He's strong, buff, but doesn't look it. His evil is 100% disguised by his coolness, and women chase him, all the time.

Ok, I know I haven't been activee on this thread a lot but I decided to stop it with the twitter like updates and begin to focus more on the script so I can get it done a lot quicker and assemble my cast and crew and start making the movie. (Though this stratedgy might be hard, since the script is usually the most fun of movie making.)

Though I won't include it in this post I had put the current draft in hold and have begun making some outlines. I have already made one and will post it quickly. I know this is probably dumb considering the fact that I already have a script coming along but this is the way I do it.

The outline will probably come this week.

The Legend of the Mario Bros
Along time ago, 2 Brothers were born. They were named Mario and Luigi, but they were not ordinary brothers. They were part of a prophecy. The prophecy stated that Mario and Luigi were really the ancient guardians of the mushroom kingdom. And no matter what happens that Mario Brothers were there to save the Mushroom Kingdom.

This was bad news to Wart, pretending to be a good guy who's really the leader of Subcon, a terrible wasteland full of destruction, for he intended to make the Mushroom Kingdom into his own image and probably run it to the ground.

So he, with his (then) right hand man, Kamek, and his minions called Shyguys, kidnap the Mario Brothers, murder their parents, and head to Subcon, but suddenly, Mario accidentally falls off the plane the bad guys were taking and lands on Yoshi Island, Wart demands the ShyGuys go search for Mario but Kamek says that Mario would probably be dead already.

So they leave Mario at Yoshi Island, but it turns out that Mario survived as he's saved by a mystical man called Miyamoto. And then, 10 years later it turns out that Mario is now a fleshed out warrior who's been taught about Justice, and how Justice is harmony and Revenge is poison to make one feel better.

But Luigi on the other hand has been trained as a warrior who thrusts on revenge and thinks that the Mushroom Kingdom should be destroyed because he thinks that they never helped Subcon (Which he thinks is where he was born) so he sets out to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom.

But as Mario begins to go back to his real home, he accidentally bumps into Luigi as here they don't know each other at all. Luigi takes him in as they spend the next couple of days at Wart's Castle But as the days go on, they become friends and Luigi is turned back into a good guy. So one night they escape Wart's castle and begin to go back to the Mushroom Kingdom to warn everyone. The people don't believe them. Except for one guy called Toad, an eccentric guy who believes in the paranormal and such.

But then the day comes of the invasion, planned by Wart, as only a few have shown up to stop Wart, but then something unexpected happens. First, these unknown creatures called Snifits pop from the ground and start shooting people with nightmare pellets, (A sort of gas that puts its victims to rest but it also causes the victims to have very scary nightmares, but they can't awaken) so with half of the kingdom in terror, the Mario Brothers and Toad then attack the front line march.

After 10 hours of nothing but attacking and battling, half of Wart's defenses and army is heavily destroyed as the Brothers and Toad head inside. After defeating more of the army, plus Wart's other friends such as Mouser and Birdo, the Brothers and Toad finally get to Wart. But Wart then knocks Luigi and Toad off with these very heavy cannon balls called Bullet Bills.

But Mario dodges and then knocks Wart out as he wakes Luigi and Toad up. But Wart gets up and the final battle begins. Wart ascends on a floating platform and begins shooting them with bullets from a gun disguised as a cane. But the Mario Brothers and Toad manage to dodge as they then throwing these little spiced up vegetables that can eat you alive at Wart, but Wart dodges all of them as he then charges at the Mario Brothers and Toad but, they jump up and then kick Wart off the platform.

But as they begin to capture Wart, he then drinks a red potion and disappears. And then Mario, Luigi, and Toad are awarded medals for getting rid of Wart. But then after that, it turns out that Wart is alive and is hiding in the mountains. But he's not alone as Bowser meets Wart, he tells Wart of how he should've agreed to Koopa's demands. Koopa then shows Wart some of his own creations, Koopa Troopas and Goombas. Then the movie ends.

Super Mario Bros (FAQ):

How will it be filmed: Traditionally 2-D Animation. Why? Because A. Things are much easier when you animate a movie, and B. Everything is CG nowadays and Traditional Animation is easier.

Budget: My bet is about $2000 at least. Its in the development stage anyway so the budget will either increase or decrease.

Will it be heavily based on the games or will it be loosely based on the games: I'm taking the route the movie took and that is to layoff the fan fair and focus on the story first. Because, the main thing I liked about the movie was that it DID have potential.

The thing is the movie didn't care about pleasing the fans. It's main goal was to tell a story. And that's how I'm going to do it. I'm of course going to include more fan stuff because face it, only the hardcore fans would ever catch all the references in that movie.

I'm going to make things more like the games, because I know making Bowser a monster in live action would've been hard for the time, but if he was human ina cartoon, that would've been unaccepteful.

Whats the tone: Balanced. Dark and Light at the same time.

What would be the approiate age group: 14 and older. There are going to be strong themes and the Dark World (Land of the Koopas) will have an intense battle scene (I'll explain later )!

Will there be any profanity (Swear words, obscene gestures, etc): A couple like 3 or 4.

Will it be an adults movie or a kids movie: Some might say it'll be a kids movie with adult themes, but in truth it will most likely be an adult movie with kid themes.

Have you thought of any actors that could fit the roles of these characters in your vision:

Jim Cummings as Koopa: No doubt. HNow can you NOT think of this guy?! If you haven't heard of him, he starred in media like

If you've seen these shows then you'll probably know why I choose him. Because of A. He can probably pull off a funny yet serious Koopa, but also, he can pull off the evil Koopa because of that Kick-@$$ voice! His voice is so awesome and evil, it can make, ADULTS shudder!

The Land of Koopa (The Dark World): An extrmely dark and evil place. It's always red and hellish there. There's always an ongoing battle between some people and Koopa's forces! Everyone who has done extremely evil will go there as a penalty as proclaimed by the king of the Mushroom Kingdom. There are crooks, murderers, and etc. The roads are filled with monsters who to try grab you from underneath the pavement. There are skulls all over the place! Volcanoes that always errupt! Fire that blows from cracks in the ground! And at the end of the place, there's Koopa's castle where no one has ever returned besides Koopa.

Well, I actually have a lot of ideas for the movie actually, its actually so that I have so many ideas, that they may not be able to appear in the movie. (Which gives hope for a sequel.)

Anyway, I have another outline planned and it will be posted!

But for the time being here are some random ideas for the movie I thought of:

The S.S Koopa: A big flying ship based on Mario 3's Doomship. There are about 123 cannons, 100 crew members, 345,564,456,456,543,999 bombs, 10 mutli-cannons (3-made cannons also based on Mario 3), and 20 floors.

Castle Koopa: An extremely dark ande evil place designed by Koopa himself. Just about 6 inches from the door theres a trapdoor that transports the person to a damp cave. After jumping through the webby pipe at the end, your then on a platform that's hovering through the dark misty space (There is no bottom).

After walking through a narrow path, you come across a road that has spikes shoot up every 6 seconds and stays there for 10 seconds. After that, your at a path where planks about 6ft wide flip every 5 seconds without pattern. After surviving that, you stand on the last plank that leads to the exit, as it moves to a ferris wheel like platform with moving planks in an oval shape pattern. There are more things that have to do with this but it'll take hours to post.

Shroob: A purpleish, ape-like creature but its head resembles a mushroom. These are zombie like and attack almost everything that's alive. They attack in pairs and move lightning quick.

The Warp-Zone: A place where everyone goes to, to travel fast. There are pipes that lead to every single location on the world. All one has to do is order a ticket and hop in the pipe.

However, over the years, people habe become tired of paying people just to jump in a pipe, so one guy made his very own pipe that traveled from his house to the police station.

And since then, illegal pipe travel was born. In fact, its more commonly used nowadays and its not even called illegal pipe travel anymore.

Ever since 1990, the King decided to make pipe travel free and even now, the Warp Zone is rarely used.

Dr. Richards AKA: Fawful: An insane formal doctor of chemistry, and mechanics, Fawful was a great inventor until he lost his mind when no one payed him any attention.

Then, after making deadly enhancements to his voice machine, Fawful accidentally literally stole someone's voice and was arrested before he could give the person's voice back. They put Fawful in the nut house for 40 years but he escaped after 3 years.

And while he was in there, boy did it make him insane. Every talent of his was gone, even his logic was screwed up. And now, he makes deadly inventions for himself as he plans to rob, cheat, and kill anything and everything he wants.

There are more ideas on the way.

Wario:

Height: 5.6

Age: 46.

Weight: 200 lbs.

Bio: Wario was born somewhere in the 60's and 70's. And ever since he was 14, Wario began making instant cash. He used to win it by hussling in casinoes, rigging dice games so he'll win, robbing kids out of lunch money, and stealing pets only to return them later when a reward is annunced. Wario now owns one of the most powerful casinoe/hotels in all of brooklyn (He mostly invites compulsive gamblers).

Description: short and fat. Shorttempered but very sly and swave. Pretends to be your friend but will stab you in thhe back. His eyecolor is blue. He has brown hair. his moustache is zigzaggy like. He wears a yellow suit (Yellow shirt, yellow jacket, and yellow pants).

Notes: Has a girlfriend named Ashley, has a slimy yes man named Preston, owns a motorcycle, never goes anywhere without smoking a cigar. Wario is also Mario's cousin.

Mario:

Age: 30.

Height: 5.4

Bio: Born in 1980, Mario was a kid that looked innocent, but could knock you into a come if you pushed him to the edge. Despite his temmper and strength, Mario actually had a lot of friends when he was in grade school, and honestly was liked by most inhabbidents of brooklyn. At 14 he took a temporary job of a carpenter but when his mother died, Mario had to quit that job to raise Luigi while their father would work for more hours to raise money. When their father died in 2005, Mario and Luigi started a plumbing service and have been plumbing ever since.

Description: average height and a bit overweight. Wears red overalls and a blue shirt, plus a red cap with a big M in the middle. Has brown hair. He is loyal to his friends but can overreacte. He has abushy black moustache.

Notes: Loves the original Starsky and Hutch TV series. Drives a red '78 camarrow when he's not working, and he drives a big white van when he is working. Drinks mostly water. Eats pasta but has been going on a diet. He still has his carpeting tools but never uses them. Always has hammer cus as he always says "You never know when you need it." Him and Luigi are both christian.

Luigi:

Age: 24.

Height: 6.0

Bio: Born in 1986, Luigi was very shy when he was young. He had like 2 or 3 friends, and was mostly in his room all the time. With the dad working all the time and the mother cleaning the house, Luigi only had Mario to look up to. But when the mother died in '93, Mario then quit his part time job to watch over Luigi because Luig was only 7 at the time, he couldn't be alone and he didn't like going to daycare for some reason. So Mario kept watching over Luigi and raising him when the father couldn't. But when Luigi finally turned 14, he then left the house often and walked down the streets. And then the father died in 2004 and Mario and Luigi then built a plumbing system where they plumbed ever since.

Description: Taller than Mario by a couple inches and skinny with a growing moustache, Luigi wears green overalls and a blue shirt plus a green cap with an L in the middle. Luigi is smart, but doesn't talk to anyone much. Luigi also understands the true beauty of life and things but keeps to himself for the most part.

Notes: Does not have a driver's license. Him and Mario are both Christian. Luigi eats more itallion food than pasta like cannoli, lasanga, and spagetthi. Ghost stories are Luigi's least favorite catagory. Luigi's a fan of slapstick humor like Charlie Chaplin.

The characters are somewhat better written than they were when you first began this project over a year ago, but Mario and Luigi still unrealistically tall. It's unnerving. The character traits you're giving them are also so specific that I have to question whether you're simply projecting your personality and likes/dislikes into them.

While it's always good to give a little of yourself to every character to breathe life into them, at some point it just makes them all like you. They'll be unwilling to do anything you wouldn't do and that will severely hinder the plot. I suggest rethinking your stance in developing the characters. After all, they carry the story.

Ok I edited there characters out a bit. Mario is now in the 5's again and Luigi is in the 6's. Also, they actually have little traits that are mine. Like i don't drive a 70's camarrow, and ghost stories I actually like. I was just trying to give them each a personality like Mario being a 70's fan and Luigi being more gentler. I know these profiles of Mario and Luigi are totally diferent from the games but the games had very little personality for Mario and Luigi to work with on a film.

So deleted some of Mario's traits like vhating the disney channel andwatching 70's shws and having magnum p i on dvd. I also made him shorter as well. I fixed Luigi too.

besides they were just notes on the character. I never said they were all going to be in the movie. Also, I decided to do another profile its coming soon. It'll be either Toad, Kamek, or Pauline.

Toad:

Age: 19.

Height: 5.6

Bio: Born on the streets, Toad used to survive each day by doing odd jobs, and living in a one room house made of cardboard. But one day Toad came across a panicked man. The man said he was the royal weapons master and that he got an order from the king to craft a newweapon. Toad having nothing else to do agreed to help the weapon's master and began crafting. After a couple hours the helicopter helmet was made. The weapon's master impressed with Toad's skills appointed Toad secondary weapon master and then when the old man retired Toad got promoted to Weapon's Master.

Description: Average height. Wears a bue jacket and a white undershirt, plus blue pants and sometimes in the winter wears a white winter hat with red spots on it.

Notes: Still visits his cardboard home in the summer. Drinks Starbean coffe. Cheats at every card game he plays.

Ok, so my mind's been active lately and I've surprisingly worked on a complete rough draft for the film. I'm not sure if I should consider this one as it completely goes against the idea I originally had set for the movie but I want to have your guys' imput on it.

Plot summary: After the death of Bowser, things have been running smoothly since Princess Toadstool has been proclaimed Queen of the Mushroom Kingdom, until 3 days ago, when 2 respectful faces, Birdo and Mouser in the MK Society have been reported dead. The town's Governor, Wart (second powerful man in the kingdom besides the royal family) is said to be next in a line of supposed murders, considering that Birdo and Mouser were both members of the comunity.

And then after Wart's death, many have theorized the death of Queen Toadstool would not be far behind. So Mario, with Luigi decide to investigat the problem and stop any more murders from happening.

Time for my rough outline.

The film begins with a view of a huge gloomy castle. Inside the castle is a series of moving platforms. There are many monsters that look like turtles called Koopa Troopas. One Troopa then walked to a moving platform and fell of the cliff when he wasn't paying attention.

Two Troopas then talked about why the castle was made like this. Then one Troopa then said they were being silly and said it was normal. The Troopa then jumped two platforms and got a drink. Then the film goes to a dimly lit throne room where a heavily cloaked monster named Koopa sat.

A Troopa with a cloak and wand appeared and a huge discussion emerged about the takeover of the Mushroom Kingdom. After some purposely whispers for words, Koopa laughed and the title appeared. Then the camera showed two plumbers, Mario and Luigi. They just got out of a huge plumbing job.

Just then Pauline, Mario's girlfriend walked to Mario and kissed him. Pauline then wanted to go to a big adventure but Mario insisted that Pauline always was a damsel of some sort. Pauline then protested but then a huge monkey came and grabbed her. Mario cursed and went after them. But that scene is never seen.

The camera then shows Mario and Luigi, all dirty and bad looking, driving down the street when they spot a guy getting beat up by a gang. The Bros stop their van and help the stranger out. After beating up the badguys by throwing stuff at them, Mario and Luigi then pick the teen up who has a blue vest on and white pants. They ask if he's alrught and offers him a meal at the diner.

The teen agrees and they have a small dinner meal and get to know each other. After some more talking, the teen admitts that he dosn't even know where he's going and that he's pratically a total stranger here in New York. Mario and Luigi then assume that he's a tourist and begin to ask him where he's from.

The teen then just says that they wouldn't believe him if he told them, so he gets up and leaves but Mario and Luigi then offer him a ride to the hotel where he's staying at but the teen says he isn't staying at a hotel. The Mario Bros still insist that they take him for a ride and the teen finally agrees.

The teen then says to take him to an alleyway and fast. After doing so, the teen then gets out and thanks the Bros. for their help. The teen then goes to a green pipe as the Mario Bros. follow. After asking why he's going there, the teen then sighs and tells them that he is from a place called the Mushroom Kingdom and that his name is Toad. Of course Mario and Luigi don't believe him, even when the teen puts on a weird hat with red spots on a white surface, resembling a mushroom.

Toad then tells the Bros to come with him as he jumps in the pipe. Mario then is like "What the hell?" and jumps in, with Luigi following. After a couple minutes the Bros. are now in a big house with Toad and someone in the kitchen the Mario Bros. get up and demand where are they.

Toad admitts they are in his house and that person they hear is his sister Toadette. Before they ask why they have weird nams, Toadette comes out and is wearing the same clothes as Toad, except the spots on her hat is pink, her vest is pink, and she has two pigtails.

She then says that she heard they helped Toad and hugs them both. Mario then asks whats with the vests and Toad says its just a fad thing.

Toad then leads the Bros outside to Toad Town. A nice town with mushroom shaped houses and people who dress like Toad and Toadette. Before Mario and Luigi ask how a teenager has this much power, Toad then walks them to a huge pink like castle. After Mario and Luigi followed Toad into the castle they are greeted by Toadsworth, Toad and Toadette's father. Mario and Luigi then re-greet and then explore the castle.

It turns out the guards are also wearing the mushroom like hats but have spears with them. Mario then walks to a door with a guard next to it, but to Mario's surprise the guard let's hem enter and then walks somewhere else. Mario opens the door but it stopped by a girl of 16 or 17. She is wearing a pink dress and has blonde hair.

Mario asks what her name is while stuttering abit and she replies, Peach. Mario and Lugi then look at each other and laugh their asses off. Peach then gets angry and calls for the guards until Toad tells them to cut it out. Toad then warns them that she, Peach is the number one highest person in the entire mushroom kingdom and that she could toss you into hot lava without assistence.

Mario first asks if that lava tossing part was bullshit and Toad embarrassingly confesses to that but he still warns Mario and Luigi not to mess around with her for their sake and then Toad lets them talk to Peach. After apologising to Peach, the Mario Bros then introduce theirselves and Peach then asks if they want to hang out. The Mario Bros. say yes but then Toadsworth stops them and first introduces the to the Mushroom Kingdom's most trusted general Bowser.

Bowser shakes both of the Bros. hands while alerting them that they look like hell. The Mario Bros. then tidy up as best as they can and Bowser then gives them advice to act alert always and never look confused if their to survive in the MK. The Bros. then ask how Bowser knows they not from here and he replies that they shoouldn't ask stuff like that and moves on.

Peach then asks if the Bros. are ready now and they pretend to be alert and respond yes very proudly. Peach then opens the door in front of her and walks inside. The Mario Bros. enter too and sit on two chairs. Peach then offers the Bros. coffe an they agree. Mario asks if she is a real princess or something. She says yes then Mario asks where the queen and king are and Peach rudely and quickly interrupts him by askig if they want something to eat while their here.

Mario and Luigi look at each other with looks of suspicion. Just then a bell is rang and Peach eaves the room and asks the Bros. to come down for dinner.

After going to the kitchen the Bros. Then sit down and are served some soup. Peach then joins them and then there is some silence with a couple slurps from Luigi.

Peach then breaks the silence and asks where the Bros are from. They both say Brooklyn. Some more awkward silence emerges, and it doesn't help when Mario asks if Peaches name means she is a fruit. Luigi and Peach glare at Mario but he only replies that he just wanted to know. After a sarcastic comment from Luigi Peach says no.

After that, Toadsworth then enters and asks how their soup is. They all say its fine but Mario adds that he wants some pasta if that's ok. Toadsworth then says yes and leaves.

Peach then asks why the Bros followed Toad, as any other person would've thought that Toad was mad and leave. Mario then replies that anything's possible you just gotta be,ieve.

Peach then scoffs and says that's so cheesy, Mario just shrugs. Toadsworth and some waiters holding plates of pasta then arrive and put the plates down on the table. Mario and Luigi dig in while Peach is already done with her plate and asks for a second plate.

The Bros are surprised and impressed a bit but decided to keep it to themselves and finish their plates. Later Mario and Luigi head into Toad Town to do something when all of a sudden, an invasion of ghosts invade the town scaring the people senseless.

Their called Boos. After scaring alot of people the Boos retreat but Toad secretly catches King Boo and demands they stop scaring everybody. But King Boo just says its a free kingdom and leaves.
