Hypothetical Sequel Songs/Soundtracks

Postby Phlibbit » Mon Jan 10, 2011 2:32 am

Okay, go with this idea here:

If the film had been successful enough to warrant a sequel, it would probably have been released in 1995 or 1996. What kinds of songs would've been used on the soundtrack? The original had songs like "Speed of Light" and "Walk the Dinosaur," and other songs like "Jump (for my love)" and "You've Got the Power" were used in advertising as well.

What would've been used for the SMB sequel? Keep in mind that the songs don't necessarily need to be from 1995--"Jump (for my love)" was released in 1984.

Hmmm well once again I'll have to go with the same songs I chose for the first movie! Fit them in for applicable scenes.

Actually, my mum and I especially theorise if there really is to be a sequel then the main villain would be Wart (from the very Arabian-esque SMB2) - so since Koopa's Tower (an obvious reference to a typical Bowser castle) was used in the first movie then I'm guessing Wart's base of operations would be an Arabian-style palace, complete with a harem. In fact there was one SMB Super Show episode in which a sultan wanted the Princess in his harem - but roller skates in a harem? LOL!!

So in keeping with my SMB/Street Fighter association and defense... here's a good piece which could be played in Wart's palace, either as basic score or perhaps for his harem girls to dance to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0-y2QZIdeI
"Somewhere my love, there will be songs to sing... although the snow covers the hope of Spring..."
Sergeant Simon: Sir, the Goombas are dancing again...
King Koopa: DEAL WITH IT!!

I don't now why, but, I think "Top of the World" by The All- American Rejects must be in the sequel.

But, of course, Alan Silvestri must return for the score!
Millions of years of climbing up from the ooze, instantly reversed. Imagine the horror as it all slips away. It's worse than mere death. It's being undone

The first song that I came up with was 'We've Gotta Get Out of This Place' by The Animals.

Figuring Capitol Records handled the soundtrack then I figure it would have been Capitol artists, plus a few others for good measure. My predictions would have been this:

Blessid Union of Souls - Original Recording (Possibly lead single)
"Planet Telex" - Radiohead (I agree with mcgriffin that this song very well could have been in the film)
Megadeth - Original Recording (I think it is highly likely they would have returned for another new track)
Tracie Spencer - Original Recording (not being able to have a solid track on the first soundtrack, she'd break out here)
"Wonderwall" - Oasis (A song from another label that could have been huge for the film)
Snoop Dogg - Original Recording (He was getting big in the rap scene at the time and making money for Capitol)
Queensryche - Original Recording (A band with a new album in '94 and an original in '95 could have kept them relevant)
"Where Is The Feeling?" - Kylie Minogue
"Long Way Down" - Goo Goo Dolls (One of the few artists from another label)
"This Is A Call" - Foo Fighters
Van Halen - Original Recording (I could have seen this being a viable option from another label)
"Here we go!" - Mario

If the sequel was released in 1996, I'm pretty sure there would be a song by Hootie and the Blowfish on the soundtrack and possibly a song by Marilyn Manson and an original by Cher.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.
