Suggestion: "The Movie Archive" Logo
I have to say, we have the name of our website "Super Mario Bros. The Movie Archive" on the front page, and it's the movie's logo, then the words "The Movie Archive" in fuzzy lettering that doesn't fit the theme at all.
I propose we find someone good with photoshop to make a sign that says "The Movie Archive" in the same lettering in a blue and silver steel box similar to the one that contains the word "SUPER" in the movie's logo, thus giving us a much more streamlined look. All in favor?

What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

Re: Suggestion: "The Movie Archive" Logo
I veto. The "fuzzy lettering" is supposed to be reminiscent of the fungus. Now, if someone could do a really great fungusy-stylized rework of "The Movie Archive" part, I'd totally be down for that.

Okay, that works too, but the current logo brings images of a shag rug to mind-- just saying.

Yeah, I like the overall concept, but do agree that something more stylized and obvious would be so much more presentable. The site itself has grown so much, yet the logo is still behind.

If I can get ahold of my friend who's a professional artist, he might come up with something really great. How does that sound?

Re: Suggestion: "The Movie Archive" Logo
I am a member on another phpBB forum and they have a logo that replaces the phpBB logo. I was wondering if we could change the boring phpBB logo for this logo I have enclosed on the bottom.
I have recreated the Mario movie logo, and I can add more to this if needed. I think the phpBB logo is too plain and makes the forum look a bit boring (no offense) what do you guys think?

Re: Suggestion: "The Movie Archive" Logo
I think that logo looks AWESOME!
Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

Re: Suggestion: "The Movie Archive" Logo
That's actually very good, I'll pass it along to Phlibbit and Redstar. Now Wesley, my fingers are crossed here, but I'm really hoping you can do some of that photo-manipulation magic for the "THE MOVIE ARCHIVE" logo, which is supposed to look like the fungus from the movie, but looks more like a shag carpet-- do you think you're up for it?
I'll give you a whole internet cookie if you make something that impresses the others and I.

I'll sure try, what was the font used on the fungus *THE MOVIE ARCHIVE* portion?

It doesn't matter, use a crazy, urban, graffiti-like font for the new one. That'll fit into the whole "high-tech squalor" theme of the movie. Just make sure it's covered in fungus.

I have just the idea, but I'd still like to know what font it was because I love the look of it.

How about this one? http://www.dafont.com/street-writer.font Make it against a brick wall, covered in fungus or something. That'll look cool.

As requested by Serum.
THE MOVIE ARCHIVE logo.
This was a snap considering the font itself looked like a fungus infestation.

Re: Suggestion: "The Movie Archive" Logo
Better, better, definitely better than what we have now. Now, see if you can put the logo of the title and the website name together into one image, have "The Movie Archive" in front of, but not totally covering the words "Mario Bros." Put it against a black background for reference, I want to see what it looks like altogether.

Perfect! I'll pass this along to Redstar and then have him run it by Phlibbit, who should make it the new logo as soon as possible. I'm sure you'll get credit in one of our site updates. It looks awesome.

Phlibbit and I have discussed the possibility of updating the board to something more thematically relevant, but have so far both agreed that its completely unnecessary at this point because the boards are simply just too inactive. While activity has picked up the last few months we just can't justify upgrading the board and spending money out of our own pockets for the few dozen members we have.
However, I do like the designs you've done and will certainly show them off to Phlibbit for further discussion. I'll let you know.

Okay cool, I didn't know it cost money to change the phpBB logo.

We've actually been in talks with a graphic designer who has agreed to develop a new logo for use on the site and forums. From what we've seen it's sleek, professional and a vast improvement over what has been in use since.

Also good, I can't wait to see it. I also would like to add that I think the black background on the main page should be replaced with something like wrought iron steel or a wall covered in Mario themed graffiti.
