3D Dot Game Heroes

Has anybody picked this little charm up for the PS3? The plot is basicly old school and new ZELDA mixed into one, but has the style of the original NES Zelda. Your hero in the kingdom of Dotnia and you have to save a princess( I think, I kind of forgot the story, all I care about is temples.) As the Hero, you can get new swords, upgrade the length and width, the sword can eventually take up the whole screen. There are a ton of nods to Zelda, Mario, basicly the entire 8-bit era. Example the monsters in the temples, and when Hero gets hurt he makes the same UH noise the NES Zelda would make.

The best part of this game...character creation. You can litterly build your own character with blocks(to me they are actually pixils.) I have created Mario from SMB 1-3(including FIRE Mario), Link from original NES LOZ, Luigi SMB 1, and 3(including FIRE Luigi) (2 is in the works) Mario and Luigi 1 and 3 are created pixil by pixil from the original sources, with a tiny alterations, the same thing goes for the Link character. Other sprites I made are Kenny(South Park), Pac Man (pixil by pixil), and I just finished Goku from DBZ last night. I also have SMB2 Toad in the works, the main pose is complete. I plan on making Vegeta, SSJ Goku, Toxic Avenger, and Creature from the Creek(my own monster).

The only down side of this is the fact I can't share them because I can't get my PS3 online for some damned reasonn, but if you guys are interested in seeing these classic sprites in a good 3D form, I would like to show them through screencaps off my phone atleast.

If there is any reason for me to play this game it's t ocreate new characters. I hope one day they come out with 16 dot Heroes, 64 Polygon Heroes and, so on. The makers of this game have a great thing on their hands and I suggest anybody with a PS3, who enjoy the original Zelda games, buy this game now. It's only 30 bucks, what can you all lose?

I too have 3D Dot Game Heroes, and yes, it is awesome. I'm really liking Atlus as a publisher right now--I always liked some of their old stuff, but they're really being awesome right now.

Are you sure you have to be online to share characters? I thought the game didn't even have that functionality. What you can do apparently is put your characters on a USB drive, upload them somewhere, and then I could take the file and put it on my PS3 hard drive. I've downloaded quite a few characters from others so far, but I haven't tested them out yet.

Speaking of Atlus, has anyone played Demon's Souls? That game is amazing. And if you have played it, that makes parts of 3D Dot Game Heroes that much funnier, as they're both by the same developer. But yeah, everyone play Demon's Souls. Best game I've played in years--it's probably in my top 10 games of all time.

Sorry Philibbit, haven't played Demon's Souls since it's too RPG for me. But I played 3D Dot Game Heroes and I'm happy to see people of good taste here: this game is one of the best surprises ever seen on the modern consoles.

Unfortunately I'm a too bad designer to make my own characters look like 2-D video game characters sprites, but I enjoyed the game a lot though. It's the best surprise I had in 2010 and one of the 10 best games I played in the current generation.

I have 3D Dot Game Heroes, yes it is a lovely game! I sucked at creating my own characters, so instead I play as a Geisha whom I have named 'Natalie'. I have an overall preference to play as any playable female characters in games, especially any cool and/or exotic-looking females such as the Geisha (only with very special exceptions, yes including my playing as Bowser in any games in which he is playable, do I favour the males) - and 3D Dot Game Heroes is no exception.

Ultimateemail5000, please please please can you post pics of your created characters? I would love to see, plus I have a friend who is also a fan of the game so I'm sure he'd love to see as well. You never know, he might want to play as any of your creations
