Allosaurus Rats

The "allosaurus rats" featured in Super Mario Bros. are probably the most understated and overlooked creatures in the film. Although they are only in a few scenes, they add an incredible sense of atmosphere and quirkiness to the world of Dinohattan. Unfortunately, some more involved scenes featuring the creatures were cut from the finished film. However, you can see some preparation shots for the deleted scene below along with photographs detailing the development of the creatures. Thanks again to MEL (Makeup & Effects Laboratory) for providing the photographs.
